Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.

凡不背着自己十字架跟从我的，也不能作我的门徒。

And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.

Then he said to them all,“ If anyone wants to follow after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me.For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life because of me will save it.For what does it benefit someone if he gains the whole world, and yet loses or forfeits himself?

Looking at him, Jesus loved him and said to him,“ You lack one thing: Go, sell all you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

Calling the crowd along with his disciples, he said to them,“ If anyone wants to follow after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life because of me and the gospel will save it.For what does it benefit someone to gain the whole world and yet lose his life?What can anyone give in exchange for his life?

Then Jesus said to his disciples,“ If anyone wants to follow after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life because of me will find it.For what will it benefit someone if he gains the whole world yet loses his life? Or what will anyone give in exchange for his life?

strengthening the disciples by encouraging them to continue in the faith and by telling them,“ It is necessary to go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God.”

In fact, all who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

But he has no root and is short-lived. When distress or persecution comes because of the word, immediately he falls away.

and that is why I suffer these things. But I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that he is able to guard what has been entrusted to me until that day.

Carrying the cross by himself, he went out to what is called Place of the Skull, which in Aramaic is called Golgotha.

They forced a man coming in from the country, who was passing by, to carry Jesus’s cross. He was Simon of Cyrene, the father of Alexander and Rufus.
