If any[ man] come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

『人來從予、而不甘舍其父母妻子昆弟姊妹、乃至其生命者、不得為吾徒。

“ If anyone comes to me, and doesn’t disregard his own father, mother, wife, children, brothers, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he can’t be my disciple.

He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

Yea doubtless, and I count all things[ but] loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them[ but] dung, that I may win Christ,

But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

Whom have I in heaven[ but thee]? and[ there is] none upon earth[ that] I desire beside thee.My flesh and my heart faileth:[ but] God[ is] the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which[ is] as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;[ Namely], of the gods of the people which[ are] round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the[ one] end of the earth even unto the[ other] end of the earth;Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him:

Who said unto his father and to his mother, I have not seen him; neither did he acknowledge his brethren, nor knew his own children: for they have observed thy word, and kept thy covenant.

Therefore I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun[ is] grievous unto me: for all[ is] vanity and vexation of spirit.Yea, I hated all my labour which I had taken under the sun: because I should leave it unto the man that shall be after me.And who knoweth whether he shall be a wise[ man] or a fool? yet shall he have rule over all my labour wherein I have laboured, and wherein I have shewed myself wise under the sun. This[ is] also vanity.

And he went in also unto Rachel, and he loved also Rachel more than Leah, and served with him yet seven other years.And when the LORD saw that Leah[ was] hated, he opened her womb: but Rachel[ was] barren.

So that my soul chooseth strangling,[ and] death rather than my life.I loathe[ it]; I would not live alway: let me alone; for my days[ are] vanity.

I have loved you, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us?[ Was] not Esau Jacob’s brother? saith the LORD: yet I loved Jacob,And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.

As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.

If a man have two wives, one beloved, and another hated, and they have born him children,[ both] the beloved and the hated; and[ if] the firstborn son be hers that was hated:
