“爱父母过于爱我的人不配做我的门徒；爱儿女过于爱我的人不配做我的门徒；

爱惜自己生命的，必会失掉生命；憎恶自己今世生命的，才能保住生命，直到永生。

不但如此，我看万事都毫无价值，因为认识我主基督耶稣最宝贵。我为祂失去了一切，我把失去的一切视为垃圾，好得到基督，

不过，只要能跑完我当跑的路程，完成主耶稣交托给我的使命——为上帝充满恩典的福音做见证，就是牺牲性命，我也在所不惜。

除你以外，在天上我还有谁？除你以外，在地上我别无爱慕。尽管我身心俱衰，上帝永远是我心中的力量，永远属于我。

弟兄们是靠着羔羊的血和自己所见证的道战胜了它，他们甘愿牺牲，视死如归。

“如果你们的兄弟、儿女、爱妻或挚友引诱你们去拜你们和你们祖先都不认识的神明，引诱你们去拜你们周围各族的神明，或在附近或远在天边，你们不可迁就、听从他们，不可怜惜他们，不可放过或包庇他们。

为了听从你的话，遵守你的约，他们不畏冒犯父母，舍弃弟兄，抛下儿女。

所以，我憎恶生命，因为在日光之下所做的一切都令我愁烦。唉！这一切都是虚空，都是捕风。我憎恶自己在日光之下劳碌得来的一切，因为这些必留给后人。谁知道那人是智者还是愚人呢？然而，他却要接管我在日光之下用智慧辛勤经营的产业。这也是虚空。

雅各也和拉结同房，他深爱拉结，胜过爱利亚。他又替拉班工作了七年。耶和华看见利亚失宠，就使利亚生育，但拉结却不生育。

以致我宁愿窒息而死，也不愿这样活着。我厌恶生命，不想永活。不要管我，因为我的日子都是虚空。

耶和华说：“我曾爱你们。”你们却说：“你在何事上爱我们呢？”耶和华说：“以扫不是雅各的哥哥吗？但我却爱雅各，厌恶以扫。我使以扫的山岭荒凉，把他的地业留给旷野的豺狼。”

正如圣经上说：“我爱雅各，厌恶以扫。”

“如果一个人有两个妻子，一个受他宠爱，一个不受他宠爱，二人都给他生了儿子，但长子是不受宠爱的妻子生的，
