And Jesus looked at him and said,“ How hard it is for those who are wealthy to enter the kingdom of God!

But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap, and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge people into ruin and destruction.For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

and yet you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life.

And the seed which fell among the thorns, these are the ones who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked by worries, riches, and pleasures of this life, and they bring no fruit to maturity.

and they will turn their ears away from the truth and will turn aside to myths.

He who said to them,“ This is the place of quiet, give rest to the weary,” And,“ This is the resting place,” but they would not listen.So the word of the Lord to them will be,“ Order on order, order on order, Line on line, line on line, A little here, a little there,” That they may go and stumble backward, be broken, snared, and taken captive.

The entire vision will be to you like the words of a sealed book, which, when they give it to the one who is literate, saying,“ Please read this,” he will say,“ I cannot, because it is sealed.”Then the book will be given to the one who is illiterate, saying,“ Please read this.” And he will say,“ I cannot read.”

Then I said,“ They are only the poor, They are foolish; For they do not know the way of the Lord Or the judgment of their God.I will go to the great And speak to them, For they know the way of the Lord And the judgment of their God.” But together they too have broken the yoke And burst the restraints.

He came to His own, and His own people did not accept Him.

And just as it happened in the days of Noah, so will it also be in the days of the Son of Man:people were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, and they were being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.It was the same as happened in the days of Lot: they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, and they were building;but on the day that Lot left Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.It will be just the same on the day that the Son of Man is revealed.On that day, the one who will be on the housetop, with his goods in the house, must not go down to take them out; and likewise the one in the field must not turn back.

But when Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul began devoting himself completely to the word, testifying to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ.But when they resisted and blasphemed, he shook out his garments and said to them,“ Your blood is on your own heads! This is what the Lord says:“ Stand by the ways and see and ask for the ancient paths, Where the good way is, and walk in it; Then you will find a resting place for your souls. But they said,‘ We will not walk in it.’And I set watchmen over you, saying,‘ Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’ But they said,‘ We will not listen.’

But they paid no attention and went their separate ways, one to his own farm, another to his business,and the rest seized his slaves and treated them abusively, and then killed them.
