耶稣见状，就说；“有钱人进上帝的国真难啊！

那些渴望发财的人却陷入诱惑、网罗和许多愚蠢有害的欲望中，以致落入败坏和灭亡中。贪财是万恶之根，有人因为贪财就离弃了信仰，结果饱尝种种锥心般的痛苦。

但你们却不肯到我这里来得生命。

种子落在荆棘丛中是指人听了道，后来被生活的忧虑、钱财和享乐缠住了，以致结不出成熟的果实来。

他们掩耳不听真理，反而偏向无稽之谈。

耶和华曾对他们说：“这是安歇之地，让疲乏的人安歇吧。这是安歇之地。”他们却不肯听。所以，对他们来说，耶和华的话成了命命令令、命命令令、律律例例、律律例例、这里一点、那里一点，以致他们走路时仰面跌倒，摔伤，落网，被捉。

犹太人看见那么多人聚集，充满嫉妒，便反驳保罗所讲的，诽谤他。保罗和巴拿巴毫不畏惧地说：“上帝的道本该先传给你们，你们既然拒绝接受，认为自己不配得永生，我们现在就把这道传给外族人。

我可以警告谁呢？谁会听呢？他们耳朵闭塞，什么也听不见！看啊，耶和华的话逆耳，他们毫不喜欢。

要小心，免得有人像以扫那样淫乱、不敬虔。他为了一时的口腹之欲，卖了自己长子的名分。

他们彼此意见不一。在他们散去之前，保罗说了一句话：“圣灵借以赛亚先知对你们祖先所说的话真是一点不错，祂说，“‘你去告诉百姓，你们听了又听，却不明白；看了又看，却不领悟。因为这百姓心灵麻木，耳朵发背，眼睛昏花，以致眼睛看不见，耳朵听不见，心里不明白，无法回心转意，得不到我的医治。’

耶和华说：“你们要站在路口观望，寻访古道，找到正路并行在其上，便会得到心灵的安宁。”但你们却说：“我们拒绝这样做。”耶和华说：“我为你们设立守望者，提醒你们要听号角声。”但你们却说：“我们不听。”

那些人却毫不理会地走了，一个去种田，一个去做买卖，其余的竟然抓住王的奴仆，把他们羞辱一番后杀了。
