Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?Therefore produce fruit that proves your repentance,and don’t think you can say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that God can raise up children for Abraham from these stones!Even now the ax is laid at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.“ I baptize you with water, for repentance, but the one coming after me is more powerful than I am– I am not worthy to carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clean out his threshing floor and will gather his wheat into the storehouse, but the chaff he will burn up with inextinguishable fire.”

Therefore let it be known to you, brothers, that through this one forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you,and by this one everyone who believes is justified from everything from which the law of Moses could not justify you.

And all these things are from God who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and who has given us the ministry of reconciliation.In other words, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting people’s trespasses against them, and he has given us the message of reconciliation.Therefore we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making his plea through us. We plead with you on Christ’s behalf,“ Be reconciled to God!”God made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in him we would become the righteousness of God.Now because we are fellow workers, we also urge you not to receive the grace of God in vain.

Peter said to them,“ Repent, and each one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.For the promise is for you and your children, and for all who are far away, as many as the Lord our God will call to himself.”

All things have been handed over to me by my Father. And all the prophets, from Samuel and those who followed him, have spoken about and announced these days.You are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant that God made with your ancestors, saying to Abraham,‘ And in your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed.’God raised up his servant and sent him first to you, to bless you by turning each one of you from your iniquities.”

On the last day of the feast, the greatest day, Jesus stood up and shouted out,“ If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me, and

Brothers, descendants of Abraham’s family, and those Gentiles among you who fear God, the message of this salvation has been sent to us.

After Jesus called the twelve together, he gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases,and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.He said to them,“ Take nothing for your journey– no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, and do not take an extra tunic.Whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave the area.Wherever they do not receive you, as you leave that town, shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.”

After this the Lord appointed seventy- two others and sent them on ahead of him two by two into every town and place where he himself was about to go.He said to them,“ The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.Go! I am sending you out like lambs surrounded by wolves.Do not carry a money bag, a traveler’s bag, or sandals, and greet no one on the road.Whenever you enter a house, first say,‘ May peace be on this house!’And if a peace- loving person is there, your peace will remain on him, but if not, it will return to you.Stay in that same house, eating and drinking what they give you, for the worker deserves his pay. Do not move around from house to house.Whenever you enter a town and the people welcome you, eat what is set before you.Heal the sick in that town and say to them,‘ The kingdom of God has come upon you!’But whenever you enter a town and the people do not welcome you, go into its streets and say,‘ Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this: The kingdom of God has come.’I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town!

As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet,“ The voice of one shouting in the wilderness:‘ Prepare the way for the Lord, make his paths straight.Every valley will be filled, and every mountain and hill will be brought low, and the crooked will be made straight, and the rough ways will be made smooth,and all humanity will see the salvation of God.’”
