Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh?

He who oppresses the poor reproaches his Maker, But he who honors Him has mercy on the needy.

Then he said to them,“ Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

“ When you have finished laying aside all the tithe of your increase in the third year— the year of tithing— and have given it to the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, so that they may eat within your gates and be filled,then you shall say before the Lord your God:‘ I have removed the holy tithe from my house, and also have given them to the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, according to all Your commandments which You have commanded me; I have not transgressed Your commandments, nor have I forgotten them.

So those servants went out into the highways and gathered together all whom they found, both bad and good. And the wedding hall was filled with guests.

And the Levite, because he has no portion nor inheritance with you, and the stranger and the fatherless and the widow who are within your gates, may come and eat and be satisfied, that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.

If you extend your soul to the hungry And satisfy the afflicted soul, Then your light shall dawn in the darkness, And your darkness shall be as the noonday.

And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying,“ This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food.”But Jesus said to them,“ They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”And they said to Him,“ We have here only five loaves and two fish.”He said,“ Bring them here to Me.”Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes.So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained.Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.

You shall rejoice before the Lord your God, you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant, the Levite who is within your gates, the stranger and the fatherless and the widow who are among you, at the place where the Lord your God chooses to make His name abide.

well reported for good works: if she has brought up children, if she has lodged strangers, if she has washed the saints’ feet, if she has relieved the afflicted, if she has diligently followed every good work.

And all the people went their way to eat and drink, to send portions and rejoice greatly, because they understood the words that were declared to them.

And I do not want to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way.”Then His disciples said to Him,“ Where could we get enough bread in the wilderness to fill such a great multitude?”Jesus said to them,“ How many loaves do you have?” And they said,“ Seven, and a few little fish.”So He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.And He took the seven loaves and the fish and gave thanks, broke them and gave them to His disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitude.So they all ate and were filled, and they took up seven large baskets full of the fragments that were left.Now those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.And He sent away the multitude, got into the boat, and came to the region of Magdala.

Nor was there anyone among them who lacked; for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold,and laid them at the apostles’ feet; and they distributed to each as anyone had need.

Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common,and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.

Give strong drink to him who is perishing, And wine to those who are bitter of heart.Let him drink and forget his poverty, And remember his misery no more.

Honor the Lord with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase;So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.

For Hezekiah king of Judah gave to the assembly a thousand bulls and seven thousand sheep, and the leaders gave to the assembly a thousand bulls and ten thousand sheep; and a great number of priests sanctified themselves.

Then he distributed among all the people, among the whole multitude of Israel, both the women and the men, to everyone a loaf of bread, a piece of meat, and a cake of raisins. So all the people departed, everyone to his house.

Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion.

But rather give alms of such things as you have; then indeed all things are clean to you.

Then Peter arose and went with them. When he had come, they brought him to the upper room. And all the widows stood by him weeping, showing the tunics and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them.

For we have great joy and consolation in your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed by you, brother.
