And walk in all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you.’But they did not obey or incline their ear, but walked in their own counsels and the stubbornness of their evil hearts, and went backward and not forward.

But turning to them Jesus said,“ Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.

The Lord repay you for what you have done, and a full reward be given you by the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge!”

“ Be glad, O children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God, for he has given the early rain for your vindication; he has poured down for you abundant rain, the early and the latter rain, as before.

“ For these things I weep; my eyes flow with tears; for a comforter is far from me, one to revive my spirit; my children are desolate, for the enemy has prevailed.”

Yet I persistently sent to you all my servants the prophets, saying,‘ Oh, do not do this abomination that I hate!’But they did not listen or incline their ear, to turn from their evil and make no offerings to other gods.Therefore my wrath and my anger were poured out and kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, and they became a waste and a desolation, as at this day.

If they were wise, they would understand this; they would discern their latter end!

Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets cried out,‘ Thus says the Lord of hosts, Return from your evil ways and from your evil deeds.’ But they did not hear or pay attention to me, declares the Lord.

Oh, that my people would listen to me, that Israel would walk in my ways!

and sent his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding feast, but they would not come.

The Lord, the God of their fathers, sent persistently to them by his messengers, because he had compassion on his people and on his dwelling place.But they kept mocking the messengers of God, despising his words and scoffing at his prophets, until the wrath of the Lord rose against his people, until there was no remedy.

How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings.

and they took Uriah from Egypt and brought him to King Jehoiakim, who struck him down with the sword and dumped his dead body into the burial place of the common people.

Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings,
