曰『爾等當勉入窄門。予實語爾、欲入而不得入者、眾矣。

“ Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.

“ Try very hard to enter through the narrow door. I tell you, many will try to enter and will not be able to.

Therefore, brothers, be more diligent to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never stumble.

“ Enter in by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter in by it.How narrow is the gate, and restricted is the way that leads to life! Few are those who find it.

The desire of the sluggard kills him, for his hands refuse to labor.

For being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, they didn’t subject themselves to the righteousness of God.

Let’s therefore give diligence to enter into that rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of disobedience.

Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways. As a nation that did righteousness, and didn’t forsake the ordinance of their God, they ask of me righteous judgments. They delight to draw near to God.‘ Why have we fasted,’ they say,‘ and you don’t see? Why have we afflicted our soul, and you don’t notice?’“ Behold, in the day of your fast you find pleasure, and oppress all your laborers.Behold, you fast for strife and contention, and to strike with the fist of wickedness. You don’t fast today so as to make your voice to be heard on high.

Therefore be watchful all the time, praying that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will happen, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

You will seek me, and won’t find me. You can’t come where I am.”

The labor of fools wearies every one of them; for he doesn’t know how to go to the city.

Because I have called, and you have refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no one has paid attention;but you have ignored all my counsel, and wanted none of my reproof;I also will laugh at your disaster. I will mock when calamity overtakes you,when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when your disaster comes on like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come on you.Then they will call on me, but I will not answer. They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me;

They come to you as the people come, and they sit before you as my people, and they hear your words, but don’t do them; for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goes after their gain.

Don’t you know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run like that, that you may win.Every man who strives in the games exercises self- control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible.I therefore run like that, not aimlessly. I fight like that, not beating the air,but I beat my body and bring it into submission, lest by any means, after I have preached to others, I myself should be rejected.

Don’t work for the food which perishes, but for the food which remains to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For God the Father has sealed him.”

So then, my beloved, even as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.For it is God who works in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure.

Jesus said therefore again to them,“ I am going away, and you will seek me, and you will die in your sins. Where I go, you can’t come.”

For John said to Herod,“ It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife.”Herodias set herself against him, and desired to kill him, but she couldn’t,for Herod feared John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and kept him safe. When he heard him, he did many things, and he heard him gladly.

for which I also labor, striving according to his working, which works in me mightily.

When you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you. Yes, when you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.

but Israel, following after a law of righteousness, didn’t arrive at the law of righteousness.Why? Because they didn’t seek it by faith, but as it were by works of the law. They stumbled over the stumbling stone;even as it is written,“ Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and a rock of offense; and no one who believes in him will be disappointed.”

When he saw that he didn’t prevail against him, the man touched the hollow of his thigh, and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was strained as he wrestled.The man said,“ Let me go, for the day breaks.” Jacob said,“ I won’t let you go unless you bless me.”

From the days of John the Baptizer until now, the Kingdom of Heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.

A scoffer seeks wisdom, and doesn’t find it, but knowledge comes easily to a discerning person.

Little children, I will be with you a little while longer. You will seek me, and as I said to the Jews,‘ Where I am going, you can’t come,’ so now I tell you.
