There the righteous might dispute with him; so should I be delivered for ever from my judge.

For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.

Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.

By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;

My son, if thou be surety for thy friend,[ if] thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend.Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand[ of the hunter], and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.

Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.

Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

Wherefore( as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in[ their] heart; and they have not known my ways.So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

But thou hast fulfilled the judgment of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold[ on thee].Because[ there is] wrath,[ beware] lest he take thee away with[ his] stroke: then a great ransom cannot deliver thee.

Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all[ ye] workers of iniquity.There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you[ yourselves] thrust out.

Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear[ you] in pieces, and[ there be] none to deliver.
