不知而作當刑之事者、見扑必少、凡多與之、必多取之、多托之、必多索之、○

其不知而行當罰之罪者、受撻猶少。誠以賦之厚、則望之深、託之重、則責之嚴也。

But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.

But suppose the servant does not know his master’s wishes. And suppose the servant does things for which he should be punished. He will receive a lighter beating. Much will be required of everyone who has been given much. Even more will be asked of the person who is supposed to take care of much.

But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.

But someone who does not know, and then does something wrong, will be punished only lightly. When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required.

But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more.

but he that knew not, and did things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. And to whomsoever much is given, of him shall much be required: and to whom they commit much, of him will they ask the more.

凡有者、將與之、使有餘、無有者、幷其所有、亦將奪之、

於小者忠、則大者亦忠、於小者不義、則大者亦不義、若爾於虛夸之財而不忠、誰以真者托爾耶、若爾於屬人者而不忠、誰以屬己者與爾耶、

昔我嘗謗讟、窘逐、狎侮之、第此妄作、乃由不知不信而然、故猶蒙矜恤、

若我未來誨之、則其人無罪、今其罪不得辭矣、

凡誤干我法、無論宗族賓旅、悉同是例。若其犯罪、毫無畏葸、則欺我孰甚、不論宗族賓旅必殄絕於民中。

法未立而獲罪者、不以法沉淪之、法已立而獲罪者、將以法審判之、在上帝前、非聽法者稱義、乃遵法者稱義、蓋異邦人無法、而自然遵法、是雖無法而自為法、法銘於心、以行彰之、內自為證、而其思慮、時寓褒貶、迨上帝以耶穌基督鞫人隱微之日、如我福音所言也、

乃呼之曰、我聞人言、爾果有此事否、可出會計條目、爾不得仍為操會者矣、

提摩太乎、當守所托之命、棄妄論浮詞、偽為智慧之辯、

約瑟不從、曰、主已不與家事、以凡所有、歸我掌握。家之中我為督、我有作為、主不禁禦、但汝乃其妻、我不可犯。安可自干元惡、獲罪於上帝。婦日誘之、約瑟不聽、非惟不與同寢、亦不與共在。一日入室治事、旁無侍從、主母執其衣、曰、與我同寢。約瑟棄衣而遁。主母見其遁、棄衣在手。則呼家人曰、主使希百來人至此、辱及我儕、適入室中、欲我薦寢、我厲聲號呼。彼聽我聲甚厲、棄衣而遁。婦存其衣、以待主歸。既至、則告曰、爾所得之希百來僕、入以辱我。我厲聲號呼、彼方棄衣而奔。主聞妻言、知僕行是、則怒甚。執約瑟下囹圄。其地為犯王章者所幽囚之處。約瑟既下獄、蒙耶和華祐、特矜恤之、令沾恩於司獄。司獄以獄囚悉畀約瑟掌理、獄中所為、惟約瑟是問。司獄不自理獄事、悉歸約瑟、蓋耶和華祐約瑟、凡其所行、無不亨通、

惟洪福之上帝、授我榮顯福音、在所必戒、

往者冒昧以行、上帝不咎、今乃隨在、命眾悔改、

及時昭著、我奉救主上帝命、以傳斯道、

且無為而為之、此吾所以自詡、有為而為之、則吾惟任其責、我自詡何歟、即傳基督福音、未嘗傷人之財、雖有權、而我不妄用其權、
