不知而作當撲之事、見撲必少、蓋凡人多予之、必向之多求、多託之、必向之多索、

其不知而行當罰之罪者、受撻猶少。誠以賦之厚、則望之深、託之重、則責之嚴也。

But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.

But suppose the servant does not know his master’s wishes. And suppose the servant does things for which he should be punished. He will receive a lighter beating. Much will be required of everyone who has been given much. Even more will be asked of the person who is supposed to take care of much.

But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.

But someone who does not know, and then does something wrong, will be punished only lightly. When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required.

For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that which he hath.

He that is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much: and he that is unrighteous in a very little is unrighteous also in much.If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own?

though I was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: howbeit I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief;

If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no excuse for their sin.

Ye shall have one law for him that doeth aught unwittingly, for him that is home- born among the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them.But the soul that doeth aught with a high hand, whether he be home- born or a sojourner, the same blasphemeth Jehovah; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

For as many as have sinned without the law shall also perish without the law: and as many as have sinned under the law shall be judged by the law;for not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified;( for when Gentiles that have not the law do by nature the things of the law, these, not having the law, are the law unto themselves;in that they show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness therewith, and their thoughts one with another accusing or else excusing them);in the day when God shall judge the secrets of men, according to my gospel, by Jesus Christ.

And he called him, and said unto him, What is this that I hear of thee? render the account of thy stewardship; for thou canst be no longer steward.

O Timothy, guard that which is committed unto thee, turning away from the profane babblings and oppositions of the knowledge which is falsely so called;

But he refused, and said unto his master’s wife, Behold, my master knoweth not what is with me in the house, and he hath put all that he hath into my hand:he is not greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back anything from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.And it came to pass about this time, that he went into the house to do his work; and there was none of the men of the house there within.And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and was fled forth,that she called unto the men of her house, and spake unto them, saying, See, he hath brought in a Hebrew unto us to mock us: he came in unto me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice:and it came to pass, when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment by me, and fled, and got him out.And she laid up his garment by her, until his master came home.And she spake unto him according to these words, saying, The Hebrew servant, whom thou hast brought unto us, came in unto me to mock me:and it came to pass, as I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment by me, and fled out.And it came to pass, when his master heard the words of his wife, which she spake unto him, saying, After this manner did thy servant to me; that his wrath was kindled.And Joseph’s master took him, and put him into the prison, the place where the king’s prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison.But Jehovah was with Joseph, and showed kindness unto him, and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph’s hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it.The keeper of the prison looked not to anything that was under his hand, because Jehovah was with him; and that which he did, Jehovah made it to prosper.

according to the gospel of the glory of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

The times of ignorance therefore God overlooked; but now he commandeth men that they should all everywhere repent:

but in his own seasons manifested his word in the message, wherewith I was intrusted according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

For if I do this of mine own will, I have a reward: but if not of mine own will, I have a stewardship intrusted to me.What then is my reward? That, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel without charge, so as not to use to the full my right in the gospel.
