“ Dear friends, don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot do any more to you after that.

我向你們做我朋友的說，對那殺身體、以後再沒有甚麼可作的、你們不要怕。

「我的朋友，我告訴你們：不要怕那些殺了身體以後不能再做什麼的人。

我友乎、我語汝、殺身而後別無能為者、勿懼之、

吾友乎、吾語汝、殺爾身、後別無所為者、勿懼、

我友乎、我告爾、彼殺身後別無所能為者、勿懼之、

吾友乎、予語爾、彼僅能殺人之身、而餘無能為者、不足畏也。

“ I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more.

“ My friends, listen to me. Don’t be afraid of those who kill the body but can’t do any more than that.

“ I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more that they can do.

“ I say to you, my friends, don’t fear those who kill the body, and after that can do nothing more.

“ Now I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more that they can do.

“ And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

“ And I say to you, My friends, don’t fear those who kill the body, and after that can do nothing more.

And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

“ I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have nothing more they can do.

“ I tell you, my friends, don’t be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

“ Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

But even if you suffer for doing what is right, God will reward you for it. So don’t worry or be afraid of their threats.

And don’t be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and will protect you. I, the Lord, have spoken!”

Don’t be afraid of what you are about to suffer. The devil will throw some of you into prison to test you. You will suffer for ten days. But if you remain faithful even when facing death, I will give you the crown of life.

I have entered my garden, my treasure, my bride! I gather myrrh with my spices and eat honeycomb with my honey. I drink wine with my milk. Oh, lover and beloved, eat and drink! Yes, drink deeply of your love!

And so it happened just as the Scriptures say:“ Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.” He was even called the friend of God.

“ Son of man, do not fear them or their words. Don’t be afraid even though their threats surround you like nettles and briers and stinging scorpions. Do not be dismayed by their dark scowls, even though they are rebels.

But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus— the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.

As for me, I am in your hands— do with me as you think best.But if you kill me, rest assured that you will be killing an innocent man! The responsibility for such a deed will lie on you, on this city, and on every person living in it. For it is absolutely true that the Lord sent me to speak every word you have heard.”

The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus.

“ But as for you, Israel my servant, Jacob my chosen one, descended from Abraham my friend,

“ Listen to me, you who know right from wrong, you who cherish my law in your hearts. Do not be afraid of people’s scorn, nor fear their insults.For the moth will devour them as it devours clothing. The worm will eat at them as it eats wool. But my righteousness will last forever. My salvation will continue from generation to generation.”Wake up, wake up, O Lord! Clothe yourself with strength! Flex your mighty right arm! Rouse yourself as in the days of old when you slew Egypt, the dragon of the Nile.Are you not the same today, the one who dried up the sea, making a path of escape through the depths so that your people could cross over?Those who have been ransomed by the Lord will return. They will enter Jerusalem singing, crowned with everlasting joy. Sorrow and mourning will disappear, and they will be filled with joy and gladness.“ I, yes I, am the one who comforts you. So why are you afraid of mere humans, who wither like the grass and disappear?Yet you have forgotten the Lord, your Creator, the one who stretched out the sky like a canopy and laid the foundations of the earth. Will you remain in constant dread of human oppressors? Will you continue to fear the anger of your enemies? Where is their fury and anger now? It is gone!

Don’t be intimidated in any way by your enemies. This will be a sign to them that they are going to be destroyed, but that you are going to be saved, even by God himself.

You are my friends if you do what I command.I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me.

“ Get up and prepare for action. Go out and tell them everything I tell you to say. Do not be afraid of them, or I will make you look foolish in front of them.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied,“ O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you.If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty.

His mouth is sweetness itself; he is desirable in every way. Such, O women of Jerusalem, is my lover, my friend.
