不过你们应当知道这一点：一家的主人如果知道贼什么时刻来，他就会警醒，不让他的房子被人钻进。你们为了这缘故也应当做好准备，因为在你们意想不到的时候，人子就来了。

不过，主的日子要来临，就像贼来临那样。在那日，诸天要轰然一声地消逝，天体将被火焚烧而废除，地和地上的作为也都将被暴露出来。

所以你应当记住你所领受、所听见的是什么；你应当持守，应当悔改。如果你不警醒，我就要来临，就像贼来临那样；而你绝不会知道我什么时候临到你。

“看哪，我要来临，就像贼来临那样！那警醒并保持衣着在身，免得赤身行走被人看见他羞处的，这样的人是蒙福的。”

因为你们自己明确地知道，主的日子来临，就像夜里的贼来临那样。当人们正说“和平”、“安全”的时候，毁灭那时就突然临到他们，就像孕妇的临产阵痛那样，他们绝不能逃脱。
