耶穌對他說：「如果你想要成為完全的，就當去賣掉你所擁有的，分給窮人，這樣你將有財寶在天上；然後你來跟從我。」

耶穌聽了就對他說：「你還缺少一件：把你所擁有的一切都賣掉，分給窮人，這樣你將有財寶在天上；然後你來跟從我。」

「那為自己積蓄財富而在神面前不富足的人，也是這樣。」

他們變賣財產和產業，按照各人的需要分給大家。

他們當中沒有一個缺乏的人，因為凡是擁有田產或房屋的人，都賣掉了那些東西，把所賣得的錢拿來，放在使徒們的腳前，按照各人的需要分給每個人。

「你們不要為自己在地上積蓄財寶，地上有蟲蛀，會鏽蝕，也有盜賊鑽進來偷竊；而要為自己在天上積蓄財寶：天上既沒有蟲蛀，也不會鏽蝕，也沒有盜賊鑽進來偷竊。要知道，你的財寶在哪裡，你的心也在哪裡。

我告訴你們：要藉著那不義的財富為自己結交朋友，這樣當財富無用的時候，你們會被接到永恆的居所裡。

在患難的極大考驗中，他們的喜樂之滿和貧窮之深都流露出來，歸入他們慷慨之心的財富。

對那些今世富有的人，你當吩咐他們不可高傲自大，也不可把盼望寄託在靠不住的財富上，而要寄託在神身上，神把萬物豐豐富富地賜給我們享受。你要吩咐他們常行美善，在美好行為上富足，慷慨施捨，樂意分享；為著那將要來臨的，給自己積存美好的基礎，使他們抓住那真正的生命。

他說這話，並不是因為顧念窮人，而是因為他是個賊。他管錢包，常常拿走其中所存的。

現在來吧，你們這些富有的人哪！應當為那些將要臨到你們的慘禍而痛哭、哀號！你們的財富腐爛了；你們的衣服被蟲蛀了；你們的金銀也生鏽了，這鏽將成為控告你們的見證，又要像火那樣吃你們的肉。在這末後的日子裡，你們竟然積蓄財富！

不過你們當把裡面的施捨給人，看哪，對你們來說一切就都潔淨了。
