for the one bringing forth in you both the desire and the effort– for the sake of his good pleasure– is God.

Then the king will say to those on his right,‘ Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

On that same occasion Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said,“ I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your gracious will.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy he gave us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,that is, into an inheritance imperishable, undefiled, and unfading. It is reserved in heaven for you,who by God’s power are protected through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

But immediately Jesus spoke to them:“ Have courage! It is I. Do not be afraid.”

For thus an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be richly provided for you.

“ I thought to myself,‘ Oh what a joy it would be for me to treat you like a son! What a joy it would be for me to give you a pleasant land, the most beautiful piece of property there is in all the world!’ I thought you would call me,‘ Father’ and would never cease being loyal to me.

And in this regard we pray for you always, that our God will make you worthy of his calling and fulfill by his power your every desire for goodness and every work of faith,

At that time Jesus said,“ I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent, and revealed them to little children.Yes, Father, for this was your gracious will.All things have been handed over to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son decides to reveal him.

And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose,because those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.And those he predestined, he also called; and those he called, he also justified; and those he justified, he also glorified.What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?Indeed, he who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all– how will he not also, along with him, freely give us all things?

Like a shepherd he tends his flock; he gathers up the lambs with his arm; he carries them close to his heart; he leads the ewes along.

Listen, my dear brothers and sisters! Did not God choose the poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that he promised to those who love him?

But you refuse to believe because you are not my sheep.My sheep listen to my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.I give them eternal life, and they will never perish; no one will snatch them from my hand.My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one can snatch them from my Father’s hand.The Father and I are one.”

This is evidence of God’s righteous judgment, to make you worthy of the kingdom of God, for which in fact you are suffering.

He did this by predestining us to adoption as his sons through Jesus Christ, according to the pleasure of his will–to the praise of the glory of his grace that he has freely bestowed on us in his dearly loved Son.In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his gracethat he lavished on us in all wisdom and insight.He did this when he revealed to us the secret of his will, according to his good pleasure that he set forth in Christ,

Night will be no more, and they will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, because the Lord God will shine on them, and they will reign forever and ever.

For the payoff of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Jesus replied,“ My kingdom is not from this world. If my kingdom were from this world, my servants would be fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jewish authorities. But as it is, my kingdom is not from here.”

Then when they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter,“ Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these do?” He replied,“ Yes, Lord, you know I love you.” Jesus told him,“ Feed my lambs.”Jesus said a second time,“ Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He replied,“ Yes, Lord, you know I love you.” Jesus told him,“ Shepherd my sheep.”Jesus said a third time,“ Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was distressed that Jesus asked him a third time,“ Do you love me?” and said,“ Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you.” Jesus replied,“ Feed my sheep.

“ Watch out for false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are voracious wolves.

Tell me, O you whom my heart loves, where do you pasture your sheep? Where do you rest your sheep during the midday heat? Tell me lest I wander around beside the flocks of your companions!If you do not know, O most beautiful of women, simply follow the tracks of my flock, and pasture your little lambs beside the tents of the shepherds.

What do you think? If someone owns a hundred sheep and one of them goes astray, will he not leave the ninety- nine on the mountains and go look for the one that went astray?And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he will rejoice more over it than over the ninety- nine that did not go astray.In the same way, your Father in heaven is not willing that one of these little ones be lost.

All of us had wandered off like sheep; each of us had strayed off on his own path, but the LORD caused the sin of all of us to attack him.

So the last will be first, and the first last.”
