But Satan answered the LORD,“ Skin for skin! Indeed, a man will give up all that he has to save his life!

So the LORD said to Satan,“ All right, he is in your power; only preserve his life.”

The ransom of a person’s life is his wealth, but the poor person hears no threat.

So the LORD said to Satan,“ All right then, everything he has is in your power. Only do not extend your hand against the man himself!” So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.

The next day, because we were violently battered by the storm, they began throwing the cargo overboard,and on the third day they threw the ship’s gear overboard with their own hands.

When they had eaten enough to be satisfied, they lightened the ship by throwing the wheat into the sea.

When they had brought them outside, they said,“ Run for your lives! Don’t look behind you or stop anywhere in the valley! Escape to the mountains or you will be destroyed!”
