But God said to him,‘ Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’

神却对他说：‘无知的人哪，今夜必要你的灵魂；你所预备的要归谁呢？’

上帝却对他说：‘无知的人哪！今夜就要你的性命，你所预备的要归谁呢？’

神却对他说：‘无知的人哪！今夜就要你的性命，你所预备的要归谁呢？’

但上帝对他说，‘无知的人啊，今晚就要取走你的命！你所预备的一切留给谁享用呢？’”

神却对他说：‘无知的人哪，今天晚上，你的灵魂必被取去，你所预备的要归给谁呢？’

“可是神对他说：‘你这愚妄的人哪！今夜，他们就要召回你的灵魂了。那么，你所预备的要归谁呢？’

神卻對他說：『無知的人哪，今夜必要你的靈魂；你所預備的要歸誰呢？』

上帝卻對他說：『無知的人哪！今夜就要你的性命，你所預備的要歸誰呢？』

神卻對他說：『無知的人哪！今夜就要你的性命，你所預備的要歸誰呢？』

但上帝對他說，『無知的人啊！今晚就要取走你的命！你所預備的一切留給誰享用呢？』」

神卻對他說：‘無知的人哪，今天晚上，你的靈魂必被取去，你所預備的要歸給誰呢？’

但上帝卻對他說：「糊塗人哪，就在今天夜裏，你的財物就要要你的命了！你所豫備的、要歸誰呢？」

「可是神對他說：『你這愚妄的人哪！今夜，他們就要召回你的靈魂了。那麼，你所預備的要歸誰呢？』

惟上帝謂之曰、無知者乎、今夜將索爾靈、則所備者誰歸、

上帝曰、無知者乎、今夜將索爾魂、則所備者誰歸、

惟天主謂之曰、愚者乎、今夜將索爾靈、則所備者歸於誰、

詎天主謂之曰：「愚人、今夕欲索爾魂、爾之所備、將誰歸乎？」

“ But God said to him,‘ You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’

“ But God said to him,‘ You foolish man! Tonight I will take your life away from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’

But God said to him,‘ Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’

“ But God said to him,‘ You fool! You will die this very night. Then who will get everything you worked for?’

“ But God said to him,‘ You fool! This very night your life is demanded of you. And the things you have prepared— whose will they be?’

But God said to him,‘ You fool! This very night your soul is demanded of you; and as for all that you have prepared, who will own it now?’

But God said unto him, Thou foolish one, this night is thy soul required of thee; and the things which thou hast prepared, whose shall they be?

“ But God said to him,‘ You fool! This very night your life is demanded of you. And the things you have prepared— whose will they be?’

But God said unto him,[ Thou] fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?

But God said to him,‘ You fool! This very night your life will be demanded back from you, but who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’

“ But God said to him,‘ You foolish one, tonight your soul is required of you. The things which you have prepared— whose will they be?’

“ As a partridge that broods but does not hatch, So is he who gets riches, but not by right; It will leave him in the midst of his days, And at his end he will be a fool.”

Surely every man walks about like a shadow; Surely they busy themselves in vain; He heaps up riches, And does not know who will gather them.

For what is the hope of the hypocrite, Though he may gain much, If God takes away his life?

For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

Though he heaps up silver like dust, And piles up clothing like clay—He may pile it up, but the just will wear it, And the innocent will divide the silver.

Foolish ones! Did not He who made the outside make the inside also?

So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

God shall likewise destroy you forever; He shall take you away, and pluck you out of your dwelling place, And uproot you from the land of the living. SelahThe righteous also shall see and fear, And shall laugh at him, saying,“ Here is the man who did not make God his strength, But trusted in the abundance of his riches, And strengthened himself in his wickedness.”

For when he dies he shall carry nothing away; His glory shall not descend after him.Though while he lives he blesses himself( For men will praise you when you do well for yourself),He shall go to the generation of his fathers; They shall never see light.

whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

But those riches perish through misfortune; When he begets a son, there is nothing in his hand.As he came from his mother’s womb, naked shall he return, To go as he came; And he shall take nothing from his labor Which he may carry away in his hand.And this also is a severe evil— Just exactly as he came, so shall he go. And what profit has he who has labored for the wind?

One who increases his possessions by usury and extortion Gathers it for him who will pity the poor.

Then Haman told them of his great riches, the multitude of his children, everything in which the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the officials and servants of the king.

They were not deprived of their craving; But while their food was still in their mouths,

For while tangled like thorns, And while drunken like drunkards, They shall be devoured like stubble fully dried.

But if that evil servant says in his heart,‘ My master is delaying his coming,’and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards,the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of,and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

On that day King Ahasuerus gave Queen Esther the house of Haman, the enemy of the Jews. And Mordecai came before the king, for Esther had told how he was related to her.So the king took off his signet ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it to Mordecai; and Esther appointed Mordecai over the house of Haman.

Then I hated all my labor in which I had toiled under the sun, because I must leave it to the man who will come after me.And who knows whether he will be wise or a fool? Yet he will rule over all my labor in which I toiled and in which I have shown myself wise under the sun. This also is vanity.Therefore I turned my heart and despaired of all the labor in which I had toiled under the sun.For there is a man whose labor is with wisdom, knowledge, and skill; yet he must leave his heritage to a man who has not labored for it. This also is vanity and a great evil.For what has man for all his labor, and for the striving of his heart with which he has toiled under the sun?

“ Because he knows no quietness in his heart, He will not save anything he desires.Nothing is left for him to eat; Therefore his well-being will not last.In his self-sufficiency he will be in distress; Every hand of misery will come against him.When he is about to fill his stomach, God will cast on him the fury of His wrath, And will rain it on him while he is eating.

For when they say,“ Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.

Now his servant Zimri, commander of half his chariots, conspired against him as he was in Tirzah drinking himself drunk in the house of Arza, steward of his house in Tirzah.And Zimri went in and struck him and killed him in the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned in his place.

Now Absalom had commanded his servants, saying,“ Watch now, when Amnon’s heart is merry with wine, and when I say to you,‘ Strike Amnon!’ then kill him. Do not be afraid. Have I not commanded you? Be courageous and valiant.”So the servants of Absalom did to Amnon as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king’s sons arose, and each one got on his mule and fled.

Belshazzar the king made a great feast for a thousand of his lords, and drank wine in the presence of the thousand.While he tasted the wine, Belshazzar gave the command to bring the gold and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken from the temple which had been in Jerusalem, that the king and his lords, his wives, and his concubines might drink from them.Then they brought the gold vessels that had been taken from the temple of the house of God which had been in Jerusalem; and the king and his lords, his wives, and his concubines drank from them.They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold and silver, bronze and iron, wood and stone.In the same hour the fingers of a man’s hand appeared and wrote opposite the lampstand on the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace; and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.Then the king’s countenance changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his hips were loosened and his knees knocked against each other.

Oh, how they are brought to desolation, as in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors.

Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, But righteousness delivers from death.

Now Abigail went to Nabal, and there he was, holding a feast in his house, like the feast of a king. And Nabal’s heart was merry within him, for he was very drunk; therefore she told him nothing, little or much, until morning light.So it was, in the morning, when the wine had gone from Nabal, and his wife had told him these things, that his heart died within him, and he became like a stone.Then it happened, after about ten days, that the Lord struck Nabal, and he died.

Then Moses spoke to Aaron,“ Say to all the congregation of the children of Israel,‘ Come near before the Lord, for He has heard your complaints.’”Now it came to pass, as Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and behold, the glory of the Lord appeared in the cloud.
