He said to them,“ Beware! Keep yourselves from covetousness, for a man’s life doesn’t consist of the abundance of the things which he possesses.”

接著耶穌對他們說：「你們要注意，要提防一切貪心，因為一個人的生命不在於他財產的豐厚。」

遂語眾曰、慎戒貪婪、蓋人之生、不在所蓄之豐裕也、

遂謂眾曰、慎戒勿貪、蓋人之生、不在所蓄之贏餘也、○

遂謂眾曰、慎哉、勿貪婪、蓋人之生命、不在家貲豐裕、

因謂眾曰：『爾其慎之、摒絕一切貪婪、人之生命、不在其產業之富裕也。』

Then he said to them,“ Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”

Then he said to them,“ Watch out! Be on your guard against wanting to have more and more things. Life is not made up of how much a person has.”

And he said to them,“ Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”

Then he said,“ Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.”

He then told them,“ Watch out and be on guard against all greed, because one’s life is not in the abundance of his possessions.”

But He said to them,“ Beware, and be on your guard against every form of greed; for not even when one is affluent does his life consist of his possessions.”

And He said to them,“ Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.”

And he said unto them, Take heed, and keep yourselves from all covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

He then told them,“ Watch out and be on guard against all greed because one’s life is not in the abundance of his possessions.”

And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

Then he said to them,“ Watch out and guard yourself from all types of greed, because one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”

Be free from the love of money, content with such things as you have, for he has said,“ I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you.”

But godliness with contentment is great gain.For we brought nothing into the world, and we certainly can’t carry anything out.But having food and clothing, we will be content with that.But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation, a snare, and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction.For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Turn my heart toward your statutes, not toward selfish gain.Turn my eyes away from looking at worthless things. Revive me in your ways.

How much better it is to get wisdom than gold! Yes, to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.

Better is little, with the fear of Yahweh, than great treasure with trouble.

Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothing?See the birds of the sky, that they don’t sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you of much more value than they?

The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they scoffed at him.

He who loves silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he who loves abundance, with increase: this also is vanity.When goods increase, those who eat them are increased; and what advantage is there to its owner, except to feast on them with his eyes?The sleep of a laboring man is sweet, whether he eats little or much; but the abundance of the rich will not allow him to sleep.There is a grievous evil which I have seen under the sun: wealth kept by its owner to his harm.Those riches perish by misfortune, and if he has fathered a son, there is nothing in his hand.As he came out of his mother’s womb, naked shall he go again as he came, and shall take nothing for his labor, which he may carry away in his hand.This also is a grievous evil, that in all points as he came, so shall he go. And what profit does he have who labors for the wind?

For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

Don’t trust in oppression. Don’t become vain in robbery. If riches increase, don’t set your heart on them.

In covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words: whose sentence now from of old doesn’t linger, and their destruction will not slumber.

Put to death therefore your members which are on the earth: sexual immorality, uncleanness, depraved passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

That which fell among the thorns, these are those who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity.

But your eyes and your heart are only for your covetousness, for shedding innocent blood, for oppression, and for doing violence.”Therefore Yahweh says concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah:“ They won’t lament for him, saying,‘ Ah my brother!’ or,‘ Ah sister!’ They won’t lament for him, saying‘ Ah lord!’ or,‘ Ah his glory!’

“ If I have made gold my hope, and have said to the fine gold,‘ You are my confidence;’If I have rejoiced because my wealth was great, and because my hand had gotten much;

covetings, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, and foolishness.

Woe to him who gets an evil gain for his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the hand of evil!

“ So be careful, or your hearts will be loaded down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day will come on you suddenly.

Satan answered Yahweh, and said,“ Skin for skin. Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life.

Don’t weary yourself to be rich. In your wisdom, show restraint.Why do you set your eyes on that which is not? For it certainly sprouts wings like an eagle and flies in the sky.

yet not at all meaning with the sexual sinners of this world, or with the covetous and extortionists, or with idolaters; for then you would have to leave the world.But as it is, I wrote to you not to associate with anyone who is called a brother who is a sexual sinner, or covetous, or an idolater, or a slanderer, or a drunkard, or an extortionist. Don’t even eat with such a person.

When I saw among the plunder a beautiful Babylonian robe, two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold weighing fifty shekels, then I coveted them and took them. Behold, they are hidden in the ground in the middle of my tent, with the silver under it.”

“ For from their least even to their greatest, everyone is given to covetousness. From the prophet even to the priest, everyone deals falsely.

A tyrannical ruler lacks judgment. One who hates ill- gotten gain will have long days.

Better is a handful, with quietness, than two handfuls with labor and chasing after wind.Then I returned and saw vanity under the sun.There is one who is alone, and he has neither son nor brother. There is no end to all of his labor, neither are his eyes satisfied with wealth.“ For whom then, do I labor and deprive my soul of enjoyment?” This also is vanity. Yes, it is a miserable business.

nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortionists, will inherit God’s Kingdom.

But sexual immorality, and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be mentioned among you, as becomes saints;nor filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not appropriate, but rather giving of thanks.Know this for sure, that no sexually immoral person, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ and God.

Better is a little that the righteous has, than the abundance of many wicked.

For the wicked boasts of his heart’s cravings. He blesses the greedy and condemns Yahweh.

having eyes full of adultery, and who can’t cease from sin; enticing unsettled souls; having a heart trained in greed; children of cursing;

They covet fields, and seize them; and houses, and take them away: and they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.
