“虚伪的律法教师和法利赛人啊，你们有祸了！因为你们当着人们的面关闭天国之门，自己不进去，也不让别人进去。

祭司的嘴唇应持守知识，人民应从他口中寻求训诲，因为他是万军之耶和华的使者。

为了避免这件事传得更广，我们必须警告他们以后不许再对任何人传讲耶稣的事。”于是，他们又把使徒传来，严令他们不许再奉耶稣的名讲论或传道。

法利赛人又把那个从前失明的人叫来，对他说：“你应该把荣耀归给上帝！我们知道那个人是罪人。”他说：“祂是不是罪人，我不知道；我只知道从前我是瞎眼的，现在能看见了。”他们就问他：“祂向你做了些什么？祂是怎样医好你眼睛的？”他回答说：“我已经告诉过你们了，你们不听，现在又问，难道你们也想做祂的门徒吗？”他们就骂他：“你才是祂的门徒！我们是摩西的门徒。我们知道上帝曾对摩西讲话，至于这个人，我们不知道祂是从哪里来的。”那人说：“祂开了我的眼睛，你们竟不知道祂从哪里来，真是奇怪。我们知道上帝不听罪人的祷告，只听那些敬拜祂、遵行祂旨意者的祷告。从创世以来，从未听过有人能把天生失明的人医好。如果这个人不是从上帝那里来的，就什么也不能做。”法利赛人斥责他：“你这生来就深陷罪中的家伙，居然敢教导我们！”于是把他赶了出去。

法利赛人说：“难道你们也被祂迷惑了吗？哪有官长和法利赛人信祂呢？这群不明白律法的民众该受咒诅！”曾经夜访耶稣、属于他们当中一员的尼哥德慕说：“难道不听被告申辩，不查明事实真相，我们的律法就定祂的罪吗？”他们回答说：“难道你也是加利利人吗？你去查查看，就会知道没有先知是从加利利来的。”

一位律法教师对耶稣说：“老师，你这话把我们也侮辱了！”耶稣回答说：“你们这些律法教师也有祸了！你们把沉重难负的担子放在别人肩上，自己却连一根指头也不肯动。

百姓中有几个法利赛人对耶稣说：“老师，你要责备你的门徒。”耶稣说：“我告诉你们，如果他们闭口不言，这些石头都要呼喊了！”

公会采纳了他的意见，于是把使徒召回来打了一顿，再次警告他们不可奉耶稣的名传道，才放了他们。
