Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send unto them prophets and apostles; and some of them they shall kill and persecute;

因此天主之妙慧、曾作警言曰：「予遣先知宗徒於若輩有為所害、有為所辱、

Because of this, God in his wisdom said,‘ I will send them prophets and apostles, some of whom they will kill and others they will persecute.’

So God in his wisdom said,‘ I will send prophets and apostles to them. They will kill some. And they will try to hurt others.’

Therefore also the Wisdom of God said,‘ I will send them prophets and apostles, some of whom they will kill and persecute,’

This is what God in his wisdom said about you:‘ I will send prophets and apostles to them, but they will kill some and persecute the others.’

Because of this, the wisdom of God said,‘ I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and persecute,’

To know wisdom and instruction; To discern the words of understanding;To receive instruction in wise dealing, In righteousness and justice and equity;To give prudence to the simple, To the young man knowledge and discretion:That the wise man may hear, and increase in learning; And that the man of understanding may attain unto sound counsels:To understand a proverb, and a figure, The words of the wise, and their dark sayings.

But ye shall be delivered up even by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolk, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake.

Now about that time Herod the king put forth his hands to afflict certain of the church.And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

But Saul, yet breathing threatening and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,and asked of him letters to Damascus unto the synagogues, that if he found any that were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.

But ye shall receive power, when the Holy Spirit is come upon you: and ye shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa and Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

and when the blood of Stephen thy witness was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting, and keeping the garments of them that slew him.

And he gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

Wisdom hath builded her house; She hath hewn out her seven pillars:She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; She hath also furnished her table:She hath sent forth her maidens; She crieth upon the highest places of the city:

and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name unto all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the hour cometh, that whosoever killeth you shall think that he offereth service unto God.

but unto them that are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

But they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and rushed upon him with one accord;and they cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul.And they stoned Stephen, calling upon the Lord, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.And Saul was consenting unto his death. And there arose on that day a great persecution against the church which was in Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judæa and Samaria, except the apostles.

Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one.Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day have I been in the deep;

Doth not wisdom cry, And understanding put forth her voice?On the top of high places by the way, Where the paths meet, she standeth;Beside the gates, at the entry of the city, At the coming in at the doors, she crieth aloud:Unto you, O men, I call; And my voice is to the sons of men.O ye simple, understand prudence; And, ye fools, be of an understanding heart.Hear, for I will speak excellent things; And the opening of my lips shall be right things.For my mouth shall utter truth; And wickedness is an abomination to my lips.All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; There is nothing crooked or perverse in them.They are all plain to him that understandeth, And right to them that find knowledge.Receive my instruction, and not silver; And knowledge rather than choice gold.For wisdom is better than rubies; And all the things that may be desired are not to be compared unto it.I wisdom have made prudence my dwelling, And find out knowledge and discretion.

and I persecuted this Way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women.As also the high priest doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and journeyed to Damascus to bring them also that were there unto Jerusalem in bonds to be punished.

and the rest laid hold on his servants, and treated them shamefully, and killed them.

Therefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: some of them shall ye kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city:that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of Abel the righteous unto the blood of Zachariah son of Barachiah, whom ye slew between the sanctuary and the altar.Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

And this I also did in Jerusalem: and I both shut up many of the saints in prisons, having received authority from the chief priests, and when they were put to death I gave my vote against them.And punishing them oftentimes in all the synagogues, I strove to make them blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto foreign cities.

But Saul laid waste the church, entering into every house, and dragging men and women committed them to prison.
