人未有燃燈而藏之於斗下者、必置之檠上、用燭全室。爾之光輝、亦當燭照世人、庶幾世人皆見爾善行、而歸榮於爾在天之父。

予之來、所以為世之光、庶幾信予者不復滯留於黑暗之中。

俾成完人、而為天主之孝子、處邪污之世、而能保守清白、明如日月、照耀乾坤；使惟生之道、因爾益彰。如是則予平生之所為僕僕風塵、不遑寧息者、庶幾不為徒勞、且得揚眉吐氣於基督之日矣。

我暗中教爾者、爾當宣之於光中；爾貼耳所聞者、當布之於屋頂。

耶穌曰：『一日之中、非有十二時乎？人若晝行、睹斯世之光、必不見蹶。
