原來，他們如果藉著認識我們的主、救主耶穌基督而逃脫這世界的汙穢，卻又被這些汙穢糾纏、制伏了，那麼，他們最後的情況就比先前更壞了；因為認識了義的道路以後，背離那交託給他們的神聖誡命，對他們來說，倒不如不認識還好。在他們身上正應驗了這真實的俗語：「狗轉身回到自己所吐的東西；豬洗乾淨了又到汙泥中打滾。」

這些事以後，耶穌在聖殿裡找到他，對他說：「看，你已經痊癒了。不要再犯罪，免得更嚴重的事臨到你。」

要知道，我們領受了真理的知識以後，如果還故意犯罪，就不再有贖罪的祭物被保留下來；只保留了對審判的可怕等待，和那將要吞滅敵對者的嫉恨之火。任何拒絕摩西律法的人，憑兩個或三個見證人的見證，就得不到憐憫而死，何況一個人踐踏了神的兒子，把那使自己成聖的立約之血看做是俗物，又侮辱了恩典的聖靈，你們想想，這個人難道不該受更厲害的懲罰嗎？因為我們認識曾說過「報應在我，我將回報」的那一位，他又說過「主要審判自己的子民。」落在永生神的手中實在可怕。

就去帶了另外七個比自己更邪惡的靈，進去住在那裡。那個人最後的情況就比先前更壞了。這邪惡的世代也將是這樣。」

原來，如果有人蒙過一次光照、嘗過屬天恩賜的滋味、曾經與聖靈有份、嘗過神美善的話語和將要來臨之世代的權能，卻背棄了真理，就不可能再次更新以至於悔改了。因為他們親自把神的兒子再次釘上十字架，公然羞辱他。要知道，當一塊田地吸收了常常降在它上面的雨水，並且為種地的人長出有用菜蔬時，它就享受從神而來的祝福；但如果它長出荊棘和蒺藜，就沒有用處了，很快就要被詛咒，它的結局就是被焚燒。

「經文士和法利賽人哪，你們這些偽善的人有禍了！因為你們為了使一個人入教，走遍海洋和陸地，一旦那人成了教徒，你們就使他成為比你們加倍壞的地獄之子。

這些人在你們的愛筵中是汙點，與你們一起吃喝也無所懼怕；他們只牧養自己；他們是無水的雲，隨風飄蕩；是深秋不結果子的樹，死了又死，被連根拔起；是海中的狂浪，湧出自己可恥的泡沫；是流蕩的星辰，有漆黑的幽暗永遠為他們存留。
