原来，他们如果藉着认识我们的主、救主耶稣基督而逃脱这世界的污秽，却又被这些污秽纠缠、制伏了，那么，他们最后的情况就比先前更坏了；因为认识了义的道路以后，背离那交托给他们的神圣诫命，对他们来说，倒不如不认识还好。在他们身上正应验了这真实的俗语：“狗转身回到自己所吐的东西；猪洗干净了又到污泥中打滚。”

这些事以后，耶稣在圣殿里找到他，对他说：“看，你已经痊愈了。不要再犯罪，免得更严重的事临到你。”

要知道，我们领受了真理的知识以后，如果还故意犯罪，就不再有赎罪的祭物被保留下来；只保留了对审判的可怕等待，和那将要吞灭敌对者的嫉恨之火。任何拒绝摩西律法的人，凭两个或三个见证人的见证，就得不到怜悯而死，何况一个人践踏了神的儿子，把那使自己成圣的立约之血看做是俗物，又侮辱了恩典的圣灵，你们想想，这个人难道不该受更厉害的惩罚吗？因为我们认识曾说过“报应在我，我将回报”的那一位，他又说过“主要审判自己的子民。”落在永生神的手中实在可怕。

就去带了另外七个比自己更邪恶的灵，进去住在那里。那个人最后的情况就比先前更坏了。这邪恶的世代也将是这样。”

原来，如果有人蒙过一次光照、尝过属天恩赐的滋味、曾经与圣灵有份、尝过神美善的话语和将要来临之世代的权能，却背弃了真理，就不可能再次更新以至于悔改了。因为他们亲自把神的儿子再次钉上十字架，公然羞辱他。要知道，当一块田地吸收了常常降在它上面的雨水，并且为种地的人长出有用菜蔬时，它就享受从神而来的祝福；但如果它长出荆棘和蒺藜，就没有用处了，很快就要被诅咒，它的结局就是被焚烧。

“经文士和法利赛人哪，你们这些伪善的人有祸了！因为你们为了使一个人入教，走遍海洋和陆地，一旦那人成了教徒，你们就使他成为比你们加倍坏的地狱之子。

这些人在你们的爱筵中是污点，与你们一起吃喝也无所惧怕；他们只牧养自己；他们是无水的云，随风飘荡；是深秋不结果子的树，死了又死，被连根拔起；是海中的狂浪，涌出自己可耻的泡沫；是流荡的星辰，有漆黑的幽暗永远为他们存留。
