如果他們因為認識我們的主、救主耶穌基督，可以脫離世上的污穢，後來又在其中被纏住、受制伏，他們末了的景況，就比先前的更不好了。既然認識了義路，竟又背棄傳給他們的聖誡命，對他們來說，倒不如不認識好得多了。他們的情形，正像俗語所說的：“狗轉過來，又吃自己所吐的；豬洗淨了，又到污泥中去打滾。”

後來，耶穌在殿裡遇見那人，對他說：“你已經痊愈了，不可再犯罪，免得招來更大的禍患。”

如果我們領受了真理的知識以後，還是故意犯罪，就再沒有留下贖罪的祭品了；只好恐懼地等待著審判，和那快要吞滅眾仇敵的烈火。如果有人干犯了摩西的律法，憑著兩三個證人，他尚且得不到憐憫而死；何況是踐踏神的兒子，把那使他成聖的立約的血當作俗物，又侮辱施恩的聖靈的人，你們想想，他不是應該受更嚴厲的刑罰嗎？因為我們知道誰說過：“伸冤在我，我必報應。”又說：“主必定審判他自己的子民。”落在永活的神手裡，真是可怕的。

他就去帶了另外七個比自己更惡的污靈來，一齊進去住在那裡；那人後來的情況，比以前更壞了。這邪惡的世代也會這樣。”

因為那些曾經蒙了光照，嘗過屬天的恩賜的滋味，與聖靈有分，並且嘗過神美善的道和來世的權能的人，如果偏離了正道，就不可能再使他們重新悔改了。因為他們親自把神的兒子再釘在十字架上，公然羞辱他。這就像一塊地，吸收了常常下在它上面的雨水，如果長出對種植的人有用的菜蔬，就從神那裡得福。但如果這塊地長出荊棘和蒺藜來，就被廢棄，近於咒詛，結局就是焚燒。

“虛偽的經學家和法利賽人哪，你們有禍了！你們走遍海洋陸地，要使一個人入教；當他入了教，你們卻使他淪為地獄之子，比你們更甚。

那些轉離不跟從耶和華的，不尋找耶和華，也不求問他的。”

這些人膽敢與你們同席，他們只顧餵飽（“餵飽”或譯：“牧養”）自己，是你們愛筵中的暗礁；是無雨的浮雲，隨風飄蕩；是秋天不結果子的樹，連根拔起，死而又死；是海中的狂浪，濺起了自己可恥的泡沫；是流蕩的星，有漆黑的幽暗永遠為他們存留。
