如果他们因为认识我们的主、救主耶稣基督，可以脱离世上的污秽，后来又在其中被缠住、受制伏，他们末了的景况，就比先前的更不好了。既然认识了义路，竟又背弃传给他们的圣诫命，对他们来说，倒不如不认识好得多了。他们的情形，正像俗语所说的：“狗转过来，又吃自己所吐的；猪洗净了，又到污泥中去打滚。”

后来，耶稣在殿里遇见那人，对他说：“你已经痊愈了，不可再犯罪，免得招来更大的祸患。”

如果我们领受了真理的知识以后，还是故意犯罪，就再没有留下赎罪的祭品了；只好恐惧地等待着审判，和那快要吞灭众仇敌的烈火。如果有人干犯了摩西的律法，凭着两三个证人，他尚且得不到怜悯而死；何况是践踏神的儿子，把那使他成圣的立约的血当作俗物，又侮辱施恩的圣灵的人，你们想想，他不是应该受更严厉的刑罚吗？因为我们知道谁说过：“伸冤在我，我必报应。”又说：“主必定审判他自己的子民。”落在永活的神手里，真是可怕的。

他就去带了另外七个比自己更恶的污灵来，一齐进去住在那里；那人后来的情况，比以前更坏了。这邪恶的世代也会这样。”

因为那些曾经蒙了光照，尝过属天的恩赐的滋味，与圣灵有分，并且尝过神美善的道和来世的权能的人，如果偏离了正道，就不可能再使他们重新悔改了。因为他们亲自把神的儿子再钉在十字架上，公然羞辱他。这就像一块地，吸收了常常下在它上面的雨水，如果长出对种植的人有用的菜蔬，就从神那里得福。但如果这块地长出荆棘和蒺藜来，就被废弃，近于咒诅，结局就是焚烧。

“虚伪的经学家和法利赛人哪，你们有祸了！你们走遍海洋陆地，要使一个人入教；当他入了教，你们却使他沦为地狱之子，比你们更甚。

那些转离不跟从耶和华的，不寻找耶和华，也不求问他的。”

这些人胆敢与你们同席，他们只顾喂饱（“喂饱”或译：“牧养”）自己，是你们爱筵中的暗礁；是无雨的浮云，随风飘荡；是秋天不结果子的树，连根拔起，死而又死；是海中的狂浪，溅起了自己可耻的泡沫；是流荡的星，有漆黑的幽暗永远为他们存留。
