如果他們藉著認識我們的主和救主耶穌基督，已經擺脫了世俗的污穢，但後來又被這些事纏住、俘虜了，他們的處境會比以前更糟糕。他們明知道正路，卻背棄了傳給他們的神聖誡命，這樣倒不如不知道的好。俗語說得好：「狗轉過身來，吃自己所吐的；豬洗乾淨了，又回到污泥裡去打滾。」這些話正好用在他們身上。

後來，耶穌在聖殿裡遇見他，對他說：「現在你已經完全好了，別再犯罪了，免得你遭遇更不幸的事。」

因為我們知道了真理以後，若仍然故意犯罪，就再沒有贖罪祭了，只有可怕的審判和燒滅敵對者的烈火等候我們。人違犯摩西的律法，經兩三個人指證後，尚且被毫不留情地處死，更何況人踐踏上帝的兒子，輕看那使人聖潔的立約之血，又藐視賜人恩典的聖靈？這等人該受多麼重的刑罰啊！我們知道上帝說過：「伸冤在我，我必報應。」祂又說：「主要審判祂的百姓。」落在永活上帝的手中是可怕的！

就去帶來了七個比自己更邪惡的鬼一起住在那裡。那人的下場比從前更慘了。這個邪惡的世代也會這樣。」

有些人曾蒙上帝光照，嚐過天賜恩典的滋味，有份於聖靈，嚐過上帝之道的甘美，領悟到永世的權能，卻背棄了真道，讓他們重新悔改是不可能的。因為他們等於把上帝的兒子重新釘在十字架上，使祂再度公開受辱。一塊經常受到雨水滋潤的田地若為耕種的人長出莊稼來，就蒙上帝賜福；若長出來的盡是荊棘和蒺藜，就毫無價值，它會面臨被咒詛的危險，最後必遭焚燒。

「虛偽的律法教師和法利賽人啊，你們有禍了！因為你們走遍海洋和陸地去引人入教，等人入了教，卻使他淪為地獄之子，比你們還壞兩倍。

剷除離棄我、不尋求我、不求問我的人。」

這些人在你們的愛宴中是敗類。他們肆無忌憚地吃喝，是只顧餵養自己的牧人；是沒有雨的雲，隨風飄蕩；是深秋不結果子的樹，被連根拔起，徹底枯死。他們是海中的狂濤，翻動著自己可恥的泡沫，是流蕩的星星，有幽幽黑暗永遠留給他們。
