Jesus knew what they were thinking. So he said to them,“ Any kingdom that fights against itself will be destroyed. A family that is divided against itself will fall.

But he, knowing their thoughts, said to them,“ Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and a divided household falls.

He knew their thoughts, so he said,“ Any kingdom divided by civil war is doomed. A family splintered by feuding will fall apart.

So Jesus called them over to him and began to speak to them in parables:“ How can Satan drive out Satan?If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come.In fact, no one can enter a strong man’s house without first tying him up. Then he can plunder the strong man’s house.

Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said,“ Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts?

“ I will stir up Egyptian against Egyptian— brother will fight against brother, neighbor against neighbor, city against city, kingdom against kingdom.The Egyptians will lose heart, and I will bring their plans to nothing; they will consult the idols and the spirits of the dead, the mediums and the spiritists.

Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them,“ Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then can his kingdom stand?And if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your people drive them out? So then, they will be your judges.But if it is by the Spirit of God that I drive out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.“ Or again, how can anyone enter a strong man’s house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can plunder his house.

The Israelites fled before Judah, and God delivered them into their hands.Abijah and his troops inflicted heavy losses on them, so that there were five hundred thousand casualties among Israel’s able men.

When all Israel saw that the king refused to listen to them, they answered the king:“ What share do we have in David, what part in Jesse’s son? To your tents, Israel! Look after your own house, David!” So all the Israelites went home.But as for the Israelites who were living in the towns of Judah, Rehoboam still ruled over them.King Rehoboam sent out Adoniram, who was in charge of forced labor, but the Israelites stoned him to death. King Rehoboam, however, managed to get into his chariot and escape to Jerusalem.So Israel has been in rebellion against the house of David to this day.

On the right they will devour, but still be hungry; on the left they will eat, but not be satisfied. Each will feed on the flesh of their own offspring:Manasseh will feed on Ephraim, and Ephraim on Manasseh; together they will turn against Judah. Yet for all this, his anger is not turned away, his hand is still upraised.

I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.

He did not need any testimony about mankind, for he knew what was in each person.
