所以，如果你們做為惡人也知道把好的東西給自己的兒女，更何況天上的父要賜聖靈給求他的人呢！」

爾曹雖不善、尚知以嘉貺予爾子、況天父不更以聖神予求之者乎、○

爾曹惡人、尚知以善物與子、何況天父、不更以聖神與求之者乎、○

爾曹雖不善、尚知以善物予子、何況天主、不更以聖神予求之者乎、○

夫以爾等罪人、尚知以嘉惠賜爾兒女；況在爾之天父、有不更以聖神賦予求之者乎！』

Even though you are evil, you know how to give good gifts to your children. How much more will your Father who is in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.”

Jesus answered her,“ If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”

Repent at my rebuke! Then I will pour out my thoughts to you, I will make known to you my teachings.

Peter replied,“ Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all— how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice,“ Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink.Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.

Jesus answered,“ Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.

“ Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!

“ And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.

If the ministry that brought condemnation was glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness!For what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory.And if what was transitory came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts!

that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live!They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness.

If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you— you of little faith?

For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!’“‘ My son,’ the father said,‘ you are always with me, and everything I have is yours.But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’”

He said to them,“ When you pray, say:“‘ Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come.

The Lord smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart:“ Never again will I curse the ground because of humans, even though every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done.

For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!

For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.

“ What are mortals, that they could be pure, or those born of woman, that they could be righteous?If God places no trust in his holy ones, if even the heavens are not pure in his eyes,how much less mortals, who are vile and corrupt, who drink up evil like water!

Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.

The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time.The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled.

At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.
