耶穌出來，照常往橄欖山去，門徒也跟隨他。到了那地方，他就對他們說：「你們要禱告，免得陷入試探。」於是他離開他們約有一塊石頭扔出去那麼遠，跪下禱告，說：「父啊！你若願意，求你將這杯撤去；然而，不是照我的意願，而是要成全你的旨意。」〔有一位天使從天上顯現，加添他的力量。耶穌非常痛苦焦慮，禱告更加懇切，汗如大血點滴在地上。〕禱告完了，他起來，到門徒那裏，見他們因為憂愁都睡着了，

親愛的，至於你們，要在至聖的真道上造就自己，藉着聖靈禱告，

耶和華啊，困苦人的心願你早已聽見；你必堅固他們的心，也必側耳聽他們的祈求，

耶穌獨自禱告的時候，門徒也同他在那裏。耶穌問他們：「眾人說我是誰？」

在那些日子，耶穌出去，上山祈禱，整夜向神禱告。

同樣，我們的軟弱有聖靈幫助。我們本不知道當怎樣禱告，但是聖靈親自用無可言喻的嘆息替我們祈求。那鑒察人心的知道聖靈所體貼的，因為聖靈照着神的旨意替聖徒祈求。

說了這些話以後約有八天，耶穌帶着彼得、約翰、雅各上山去禱告。

耶和華－我的磐石，我的救贖主啊，願我口中的言語，心裏的意念在你面前蒙悅納。

你們貪戀，得不着就殺人；你們嫉妒，不能得手就起爭執和衝突；你們得不着，是因為你們不求。你們求也得不着，是因為你們妄求，為了要浪費在你們的宴樂中。

基督在他肉身的日子，曾大聲哀哭，流淚禱告，懇求那能救他免死的神，就因他的虔誠蒙了應允。
