在王宮裏的太監古實人以伯‧米勒，聽見他們把耶利米丟進井裏，那時王坐在便雅憫門前。以伯‧米勒從王宮裏出來，對王說：「主－我的王啊，這些人向耶利米先知一味地行惡，把他丟在井裏；他在那裏必因飢餓而死，因為城裏不再有糧食了。」王就吩咐古實人以伯‧米勒說：「你從這裏帶領三十人，趁耶利米先知還沒死，把他從井裏拉上來。」於是以伯‧米勒帶領這些人同去，進入王宮，到庫房以下，從那裏取了些碎布和破衣服，用繩子縋下去，到井裏耶利米那裏。古實人以伯‧米勒對耶利米說：「你用這些碎布和破衣服放在繩子上，墊你的腋下。」耶利米就照樣做。這樣，他們用繩子將耶利米從井裏拉上來。耶利米仍在護衛兵的院中。

主看見那寡婦就憐憫她，對她說：「不要哭。」

耶穌差遣這十二個人出去，吩咐他們說：「外邦人的路，你們不要走；撒瑪利亞人的城，你們不要進；

你不應該憐憫你的同伴，像我憐憫你嗎？』

她打開箱子，看見那孩子。看哪，男孩在哭，她就可憐他，說：「這是希伯來人的一個孩子。」

猶太人回答他：「我們說你是撒瑪利亞人，並且是被鬼附的，這話不是很對嗎？」

撒瑪利亞婦人對他說：「你是猶太人，怎麼向我一個撒瑪利亞女人要水喝呢？」因為猶太人和撒瑪利亞人沒有來往。

「你去告訴古實人以伯‧米勒說，萬軍之耶和華－以色列的神如此說：看哪，我說降禍不降福的話必臨到這城，到那時必在你面前實現。到那日我必拯救你，你必不致交在你所怕的人手中。這是耶和華說的。我定要搭救你，你必不致倒在刀下，卻要保全自己的性命，因你倚靠我。這是耶和華說的。」

又俯伏在耶穌腳前感謝他。這人是撒瑪利亞人。耶穌回答說：「潔淨了的不是十個人嗎？那九個在哪裏呢？除了這外族人，再沒有別人回來歸榮耀給神嗎？」

他打發使者在他前頭走；他們進了撒瑪利亞的一個村莊，要為他作準備。那裏的人不接待他，因為他面向着耶路撒冷去。
