The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, it says,“ The person who does these things will live by them.” (niv)

“ You warned them in order to turn them back to your law, but they became arrogant and disobeyed your commands. They sinned against your ordinances, of which you said,‘ The person who obeys them will live by them.’ Stubbornly they turned their backs on you, became stiff- necked and refused to listen. (niv)

Simon replied,“ I suppose the one who had the bigger debt forgiven.”“ You have judged correctly,” Jesus said. (niv)

Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes. (niv)

Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. (niv)

“‘ But the children rebelled against me: They did not follow my decrees, they were not careful to keep my laws, of which I said,“ The person who obeys them will live by them,” and they desecrated my Sabbaths. So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and spend my anger against them in the wilderness. (niv)

When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him,“ You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions. (niv)
