On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus.“ Teacher,” he asked,“ what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

One day an authority on the law stood up to test Jesus.“ Teacher,” he asked,“ what must I do to receive eternal life?”

And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying,“ Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

One day an expert in religious law stood up to test Jesus by asking him this question:“ Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?”

Then an expert in the law stood up to test him, saying,“ Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

And behold, a lawyer stood up and put Him to the test, saying,“ Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying,“ Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

Just then an expert in the law stood up to test Him, saying,“ Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

Now an expert in religious law stood up to test Jesus, saying,“ Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

But the Pharisees, when they heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, gathered themselves together.And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, trying him:Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?And he said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.This is the great and first commandment.And a second like unto it is this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

and brought them out and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus, and thou shalt be saved, thou and thy house.

And behold, one came to him and said, Teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?And he said unto him, Why askest thou me concerning that which is good? One there is who is good: but if thou wouldest enter into life, keep the commandments.He saith unto him, Which? And Jesus said, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,Honor thy father and thy mother; and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

But the Pharisees and the lawyers rejected for themselves the counsel of God, being not baptized of him.

For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no more of promise: but God hath granted it to Abraham by promise.

And one of the lawyers answering saith unto him, Teacher, in saying this thou reproachest us also.And he said, Woe unto you lawyers also! for ye load men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.
