他們能拿蛇；若喝了甚麼致命之物，也決不能傷害他們；他們給病人按手，病人就好了。

保羅呢、只把那活物抖在火裏，並沒有受害。

賜平安和平的上帝就會快快將撒但踐踏在你們腳下了。願我們主耶穌的恩與你們同在！

若有人想要傷害他們，就必有火從他們口中噴出，去燒滅他們的仇敵；若有人想要傷害他們，就必定這樣被殺。

你們生活的風度不可貪愛銀錢；要以現有的為足；因為上帝親自說過：『我必定不放開你，必定不撇棄你』；所以我們可以放膽說：『主是援助我的，我必不懼怕；人能把我怎麼樣呢？』

人子啊，你不要怕他們，他們的話你可不要懼怕，雖有頂撞和藐視的人如同荊棘和蒺藜在你那裏，你又住在蠍子中間；他們的話你可不要懼怕，你不要因他們的臉色而驚慌；他們原是叛逆之家。

你們必為我的名被眾人恨惡。然而你們的頭髮、連一根也不能失掉。

喫奶的嬰兒必在虺蛇的洞口鬥着樂，斷奶的孩子必在毒蛇的穴外學步。

既然如此，對這些事我們可怎麼說呢？上帝若為我們，誰能敵我們呢？他既不愛惜自己的兒子，反而為我們萬人放棄了他，豈不也把萬物連他、都一同恩賜我們麼？誰能告上帝揀選的人呢？稱他們為義的是上帝啊。誰能定他們的罪呢？有基督、那曾經死了的、倒應當說曾得了甦活起來的，有他在上帝的右邊，他在替我們懇求着啊。誰能使我們和基督的愛隔絕呢？難道是苦難麼？是困迫麼？是逼迫麼？是饑餓麼？是赤身麼？是危險麼？是刀劍麼？是像經上所記：「我們為你的緣故、終日被處死、看為將被屠宰的羊」麼？不；在這一切事上、我們藉着那愛了我們的、倒是得勝有餘了。因為我深信，無論是死、是活，是天使、是「眾執政的」，是現在的事、是將來的事，是「一切有權能的」，是高處、是深處，或是任何別的被創造之物，都不能使我們跟上帝的愛、那在我們主基督耶穌裏的愛、隔絕。
