但是保罗却把那条蛇抖在火里，自己一点也没有受伤。

赐平安的神快要把撒但践踏在你们脚下。愿我们主耶稣的恩惠与你们同在。

如果有人想要伤害他们，就有火从他们口中出来，吞灭他们的仇敌。凡是想要伤害他们的，都必这样被杀。

你们为人不要贪爱钱财，要以现在所有的为满足；因为神亲自说过：“我决不撇下你，也不离弃你。”所以我们可以放胆说：“主是我的帮助，我决不害怕，人能把我怎么样呢？”

“人子啊！至于你，虽然荆棘和蒺藜在你周围，你又住在蝎子群中，你不要怕他们，也不要怕他们讲的话。他们原是叛逆的民族，你总不要怕他们讲的话，在他们面前，也不要惊惶。

你们要因我的名，被众人恨恶，然而连你们的一根头发，也必不失落。

吃奶的婴儿必在虺蛇的洞口玩耍，断奶的孩子必放他的手在毒蛇的穴上。

既是这样，我们对这一切还有什么话说呢？神若这样为我们，谁能敌对我们呢？他连自己的儿子都舍得，为我们众人把他交出来，难道不也把万有和他一同白白地赐给我们吗？谁能控告神拣选的人呢？有神称我们为义了。谁能定我们的罪呢？有基督耶稣死了，而且复活了，现今在神的右边，也替我们祈求。谁能使我们与基督的爱隔绝呢？是患难吗？是困苦吗？是迫害吗？是饥饿吗？是赤身露体吗？是危险吗？是刀剑吗？正如经上所记：“为你的缘故，我们终日面对死亡，人看我们像待宰的羊。”但靠着爱我们的那一位，我们在这一切事上就得胜有余了。因为我深信：无论是死、是生，是天使、是掌权的，是现在的事，是将来的事，是有能力的，是高天的、是深渊的，或是任何别的被造之物，都不能叫我们与神的爱隔绝，这爱是在我们的主耶稣基督里的。
