暗兰的儿子是亚伦和摩西。亚伦和他的子孙永远被分别出来，献上至圣之物；在耶和华面前烧香，服事他，奉他的名祝福，直到永远。

亚伦要在坛上烧香料做的香，每天早晨整理灯的时候，要烧这香。傍晚，亚伦点灯的时候，也要烧这香，在耶和华面前作你们世世代代不断的香。

我不是从以色列众支派中，选出他们作我的祭司，上我的坛烧香，在我面前穿以弗得吗？我不是把以色列人所献的火祭，都赐给了你的父家吗？

给以色列人作鉴戒，叫不是亚伦子孙的外人，不可近前来，在耶和华面前烧香，免得他像可拉和他的同党有一样的遭遇；这是照着耶和华藉摩西吩咐以利亚撒的。

亚伦和他的子孙，却在燔祭坛上和香坛上，献祭烧香，作至圣所里的各种工作，为以色列人赎罪，是完全照着神的仆人摩西所吩咐的。

他用皂荚木做了一座香坛，长四十四公分，宽四十四公分，是正方形的，高八十八公分；坛的四角是与坛连在一起的。又用纯金把坛包裹，坛顶、坛的四边和坛的四角都包裹，又替坛做了金牙边。又替坛做了两个金环，安放在牙边以下，坛的两侧，就是坛的两旁，作穿杠的地方，用来抬坛。用皂荚木做了两根杠，用金包裹。又按着制香料者的制法，制圣膏油以及芬芳的纯香。

乌西雅强盛起来，就心高气傲，以致自寻毁灭，竟冒犯耶和华他的神；他进了耶和华的殿，要在香坛上烧香。

这一切物件都这样预备好了，祭司就常常进入第一进会幕，执行敬拜的事。
