to give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins,

You will tell his people how they can be saved. You will tell them that their sins can be forgiven.

John responded,“ No one can receive a single thing unless it’s given to him from heaven.You yourselves can testify that I said,‘ I am not the Messiah, but I’ve been sent ahead of Him.’He who has the bride is the groom. But the groom’s friend, who stands by and listens for him, rejoices greatly at the groom’s voice. So this joy of mine is complete.He must increase, but I must decrease.”The One who comes from above is above all. The one who is from the earth is earthly and speaks in earthly terms. The One who comes from heaven is above all.He testifies to what He has seen and heard, yet no one accepts His testimony.The one who has accepted His testimony has affirmed that God is true.For God sent Him, and He speaks God’s words, since He gives the Spirit without measure.The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hands.The one who believes in the Son has eternal life, but the one who refuses to believe in the Son will not see life; instead, the wrath of God remains on him.

Therefore I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven; that’s why she loved much. But the one who is forgiven little, loves little.”Then He said to her,“ Your sins are forgiven.”Those who were at the table with Him began to say among themselves,“ Who is this man who even forgives sins?”And He said to the woman,“ Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said,“ Here is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

He went into all the vicinity of the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins,

Therefore repent and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped out, that seasons of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,

We have redemption in Him through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace

( John testified concerning Him and exclaimed,“ This was the One of whom I said,‘ The One coming after me has surpassed me, because He existed before me.’”)Indeed, we have all received grace after grace from His fullness,for the law was given through Moses, grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Paul said,“ John baptized with a baptism of repentance, telling the people that they should believe in the One who would come after him, that is, in Jesus.”

Likewise, David also speaks of the blessing of the man God credits righteousness to apart from works:How joyful are those whose lawless acts are forgiven and whose sins are covered!How joyful is the man the Lord will never charge with sin!

God presented Him as a propitiation through faith in His blood, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His restraint God passed over the sins previously committed.

A voice of one crying out in the wilderness: Prepare the way for the Lord; make His paths straight!John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.

Therefore, let it be known to you, brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is being proclaimed to you,and everyone who believes in Him is justified from everything that you could not be justified through the law of Moses.

No longer will one teach his neighbor or his brother, saying,‘ Know the Lord,’ for they will all know Me, from the least to the greatest of them”— this is the Lord’s declaration.“ For I will forgive their wrongdoing and never again remember their sin.
