And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High. For you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways,

此子將稱至上者之先知、為主前驅、以備其道、

惟汝嬰兒、必稱為至上者之先知、因爾將為主前驅、以備其路、

終我之身、聖德是務。

And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him,

“ I am about to send my messenger, who will clear the way before me. Indeed, the Lord you are seeking will suddenly come to his temple, and the messenger of the covenant, whom you long for, is certainly coming,” says the LORD who rules over all.

He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David.

As it is written in Isaiah the prophet,“ Look, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way,the voice of one shouting in the wilderness,‘ Prepare the way for the Lord, make his paths straight.’”

A voice cries out,“ In the wilderness clear a way for the LORD; construct in the desert a road for our God.Every valley must be elevated, and every mountain and hill leveled. The rough terrain will become a level plain, the rugged landscape a wide valley.The splendor of the LORD will be revealed, and all people will see it at the same time. For the LORD has decreed it.”

Although Herod wanted to kill John, he feared the crowd because they accepted John as a prophet.

What did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.This is the one about whom it is written:‘ Look, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.’

For he is the one about whom Isaiah the prophet had spoken:“ The voice of one shouting in the wilderness,‘ Prepare the way for the Lord, make his paths straight.’”

But if we say,‘ From people–’”( they feared the crowd, for they all considered John to be truly a prophet).

She followed behind Paul and us and kept crying out,“ These men are servants of the Most High God, who are proclaiming to you the way of salvation.”

John said,“ I am the voice of one shouting in the wilderness,‘ Make straight the way for the Lord,’ as Isaiah the prophet said.”

The angel replied,“ The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be holy; he will be called the Son of God.

But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to ungrateful and evil people.

But if we say,‘ From people,’ we fear the crowd, for they all consider John to be a prophet.”

But it is said of Zion’s residents,“ Each one of these was born in her, and the sovereign One makes her secure.”

Look, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and terrible day of the LORD arrives.

“ I baptize you with water, for repentance, but the one coming after me is more powerful than I am– I am not worthy to carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

You yourselves can testify that I said,‘ I am not the Christ,’ but rather,‘ I have been sent before him.’

This is the one about whom it is written,‘ Look, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.’I tell you, among those born of women no one is greater than John. Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he is.”

As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet,“ The voice of one shouting in the wilderness:‘ Prepare the way for the Lord, make his paths straight.Every valley will be filled, and every mountain and hill will be brought low, and the crooked will be made straight, and the rough ways will be made smooth,and all humanity will see the salvation of God.’”

Before Jesus arrived, John had proclaimed a baptism for repentance to all the people of Israel.But while John was completing his mission, he said repeatedly,‘ What do you think I am? I am not he. But look, one is coming after me. I am not worthy to untie the sandals on his feet!’

who is coming after me. I am not worthy to untie the strap of his sandal!”

He will turn many of the people of Israel to the Lord their God.And he will go as forerunner before the Lord in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers back to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared for him.”
