Remember these things, Jacob, and Israel, for you are my servant; I formed you, you are my servant; Israel, you will never be forgotten by me.

“ Listen to me, house of Jacob, all the remnant of the house of Israel, who have been sustained from the womb, carried along since birth.I will be the same until your old age, and I will bear you up when you turn gray. I have made you, and I will carry you; I will bear and rescue you.

Isn’t Ephraim a precious son to me, a delightful child? Whenever I speak against him, I certainly still think about him. Therefore, my inner being yearns for him; I will truly have compassion on him. This is the LORD’s declaration.

Zion says,“ The LORD has abandoned me; the Lord has forgotten me!”“ Can a woman forget her nursing child, or lack compassion for the child of her womb? Even if these forget, yet I will not forget you.Look, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me.

just as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets in ancient times;salvation from our enemies and from the hand of those who hate us.He has dealt mercifully with our ancestors and remembered his holy covenant—the oath that he swore to our father Abraham, to grant that we,having been rescued from the hand of our enemies, would serve him without fearin holiness and righteousness in his presence all our days.

“ Have you not noticed what these people have said? They say,‘ The LORD has rejected the two families he had chosen.’ My people are treated with contempt and no longer regarded as a nation among them.This is what the LORD says: If I do not keep my covenant with the day and with the night, and if I fail to establish the fixed order of heaven and earth,then I might also reject the descendants of Jacob and of my servant David. That is, I would not take rulers from his descendants to rule over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. But in fact, I will restore their fortunes and have compassion on them.”

Sing for joy, Daughter Zion; shout loudly, Israel! Be glad and celebrate with all your heart, Daughter Jerusalem!The LORD has removed your punishment; he has turned back your enemy. The King of Israel, the LORD, is among you; you need no longer fear harm.On that day it will be said to Jerusalem:“ Do not fear; Zion, do not let your hands grow weak.The LORD your God is among you, a warrior who saves. He will rejoice over you with gladness. He will be quiet in his love. He will delight in you with singing.”I will gather those who have been driven from the appointed festivals; they will be a tribute from you and a reproach on her.Yes, at that time I will deal with all who oppress you. I will save the lame and gather the outcasts; I will make those who were disgraced throughout the earth receive praise and fame.At that time I will bring you back, yes, at the time I will gather you. I will make known the LORD’s faithful love and the LORD’s praiseworthy acts, because of all the LORD has done for us— even the many good things he has done for the house of Israel, which he did for them based on his compassion and the abundance of his faithful love.He said,“ They are indeed my people, children who will not be disloyal,” and he became their Savior.In all their suffering, he suffered, and the angel of his presence saved them. He redeemed them because of his love and compassion; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of the past.But they rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit. So he became their enemy and fought against them.Then he remembered the days of the past, the days of Moses and his people. Where is he who brought them out of the sea with the shepherds of his flock? Where is he who put his Holy Spirit among the flock?He made his glorious strength available at the right hand of Moses, divided the water before them to make an eternal name for himself,and led them through the depths like a horse in the wilderness, so that they did not stumble.Like cattle that go down into the valley, the Spirit of the LORD gave them rest. You led your people this way to make a glorious name for yourself.Look down from heaven and see from your lofty home— holy and beautiful. Where is your zeal and your might? Your yearning and your compassion are withheld from me.Yet you are our Father, even though Abraham does not know us and Israel doesn’t recognize us. You, LORD, are our Father; your name is Our Redeemer from Ancient Times.

Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout in triumph, Daughter Jerusalem! Look, your King is coming to you; he is righteous and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the horse from Jerusalem. The bow of war will be removed, and he will proclaim peace to the nations. His dominion will extend from sea to sea, from the Euphrates River to the ends of the earth.As for you, because of the blood of your covenant, I will release your prisoners from the waterless cistern.

For the LORD has called you, like a wife deserted and wounded in spirit, a wife of one’s youth when she is rejected,” says your God.“ I deserted you for a brief moment, but I will take you back with abundant compassion.In a surge of anger I hid my face from you for a moment, but I will have compassion on you with everlasting love,” says the LORD your Redeemer.“ For this is like the days of Noah to me: when I swore that the water of Noah would never flood the earth again, so I have sworn that I will not be angry with you or rebuke you.Though the mountains move and the hills shake, my love will not be removed from you and my covenant of peace will not be shaken,” says your compassionate LORD.
