He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.

Is the saw to exalt itself over the one who wields it? That would be like a club wielding those who lift it, Or like a rod lifting the one who is not wood.Therefore the Lord, the God of armies, will send a wasting disease among his stout warriors; And under his glory a fire will be kindled like a burning flame.And the Light of Israel will become a fire and Israel’s Holy One a flame, And it will burn and devour his thorns and his briars in a single day.And He will destroy the glory of his forest and of his fruitful garden, both soul and body, And it will be as when a sick person wastes away.And the rest of the trees of his forest will be so small in number That a child could write them down.

You have a strong arm; Your hand is mighty, Your right hand is exalted.

Why are the nations restless And the peoples plotting in vain?The kings of the earth take their stand And the rulers conspire together Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,“ Let’s tear their shackles apart And throw their ropes away from us!”He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them.Then He will speak to them in His anger And terrify them in His fury, saying,“ But as for Me, I have installed My King Upon Zion, My holy mountain.”

We have heard of the pride of Moab— he is very proud— Of his haughtiness, his pride, his arrogance, and his self exaltation.I know his fury,” declares the Lord,“ But it is futile; His idle boasts have accomplished nothing.

Or do you have an arm like God, And can you thunder with a voice like His?“ Adorn yourself with pride and dignity, And clothe yourself with honor and majesty.Let out your outbursts of anger, And look at everyone who is arrogant, and humble him.Look at everyone who is arrogant, and humble him, And trample down the wicked where they stand.

You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because God is opposed to the proud, but He gives grace to the humble.

“ Now this is the inscription that was written:‘ Menē, Menē, Tekēl, Upharsin.’This is the interpretation of the message:‘ Menē’— God has numbered your kingdom and put an end to it.‘ Tekēl’— you have been weighed on the scales and found deficient.‘ Perēs’— your kingdom has been divided and given to the Medes and Persians.”Then Belshazzar gave orders, and they clothed Daniel with purple and put a necklace of gold around his neck, and issued a proclamation concerning him that he now had authority as the third ruler in the kingdom.That same night Belshazzar the Chaldean king was killed.So Darius the Mede received the kingdom at about the age of sixty two.

Or has a god ventured to go to take for himself a nation from within another nation by trials, by signs and wonders, by war, by a mighty hand, by an outstretched arm, and by great terrors, just as the Lord your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?
