In a loud voice she exclaimed:“ Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear!

Then she exclaimed with a loud cry:“ You are the most blessed of women, and your child will be blessed!

“ Most blessed among women is Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite. May she be blessed above all women who live in tents.

“ Blessings on the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven, and glory in highest heaven!”

Gabriel appeared to her and said,“ Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you!”

For he took notice of his lowly servant girl, and from now on all generations will call me blessed.

And through your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed— all because you have obeyed me.”

May the king’s name endure forever; may it continue as long as the sun shines. May all nations be blessed through him and bring him praise.Praise the Lord God, the God of Israel, who alone does such wonderful things.Praise his glorious name forever! No wonder my heart is glad, and my tongue shouts his praises! My body rests in hope.For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your Holy One to rot in the grave.You have shown me the way of life, and you will fill me with the joy of your presence.’

We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.

Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are their ancestors, and Christ himself was an Israelite as far as his human nature is concerned. And he is God, the one who rules over everything and is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.
