他的父親撒迦利亞被聖靈充滿，就預言說：

那時，彼得被聖靈充滿，對他們說：「民眾的首領和長老們，

因為他將要在主面前為大。淡酒和烈酒他絕不能喝，還在母腹中的時候，他就會被聖靈充滿。

但是司提反充滿聖靈，注目望天，看見了神的榮耀，又看見耶穌站在神的右邊。

看哪，原來你問候的聲音一傳入我的耳朵，胎兒就在我的腹中歡喜跳躍。

耶穌充滿聖靈，從約旦河回來，被聖靈帶到曠野，

有一個主日，我在靈裡，聽見我後面有一個大聲音，如同號角聲，

不要醉酒，醉酒帶來放蕩，而要被聖靈充滿：

我自出母胎就被交託給你；一出母腹，你就是我的神。

兩個胎兒在她裡面彼此擠壓，她就說：「這樣的話，為什麼這事發生在我身上呢？」於是她去求問耶和華。

所以弟兄們，要從你們當中挑選七個有好名聲、充滿聖靈和智慧的人；我們就委任他們統管這事務。
