他们往前走的时候，经过一处有水的地方，太监说：“你看，这里有水，我可以在这里接受洗礼吗？”

我已经与基督一同被钉在十字架上，现在活着的不再是我，而是基督活在我里面。我现在是靠信上帝的儿子而活着，祂爱我，为我舍命。

看守耶稣的百夫长和士兵看见地震及所发生的一切，都很害怕，说：“这人真是上帝的儿子啊！”

耶稣还是沉默不语。大祭司又对祂说：“我奉永活上帝的名命令你起誓告诉我们，你是不是上帝的儿子基督？”耶稣说：“如你所言。但我告诉你们，将来你们要看见人子坐在大能者的右边，驾着天上的云降临。”

谁能使污秽产生洁净呢？没有人能。

世人怎能在上帝面前算为义人？妇人所生的怎能纯洁？

我们以前也在他们当中随从罪恶的本性，放纵肉体和心中的私欲，与其他人一样本是惹上帝发怒的人。

更何况可憎败坏、嗜恶如喝水的世人？

我生来就是个罪人，在母腹成胎的时候就有罪。

那位君王说：“我要宣告耶和华的旨意，祂对我说，‘你是我的儿子，我今日成为你父亲。

船上的人都敬拜祂，说：“你真是上帝的儿子。”

而记载这些事的目的是为了使你们相信耶稣就是基督，是上帝的儿子，并且使你们这些信祂的人可以靠祂的名得到生命。

有关上帝的儿子耶稣基督的福音是这样开始的。

我们所需要的，正是这样一位圣洁无瑕、良善纯全、远离罪恶、超越诸天的大祭司。祂无需像其他大祭司每天先为自己的罪献祭，然后为百姓的罪献祭，因为祂只一次献上自己的生命，便永远完成了赎罪的工作。根据律法所立的大祭司都有弱点，但律法之后凭誓言所立的大祭司——上帝的儿子永远纯全。

试探者前来对祂说：“如果你是上帝的儿子，可以叫这些石头变成食物。”
