The angel said to her,“ Don’t be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.

What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Now, this is what the LORD says, the one who created you, O Jacob, and formed you, O Israel:“ Don’t be afraid, for I will protect you. I call you by name, you are mine.When you pass through the waters, I am with you; when you pass through the streams, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not harm you.For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your deliverer. I have handed over Egypt as a ransom price, Ethiopia and Seba in place of you.Since you are precious and special in my sight, and I love you, I will hand over people in place of you, nations in place of your life.

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you! Don’t be frightened, for I am your God! I strengthen you– yes, I help you– yes, I uphold you with my saving right hand!

But the angel said to him,“ Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son; you will name him John.

So we can say with confidence,“ The Lord is my helper, and I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”

This is what the LORD, the one who made you, says– the one who formed you in the womb and helps you:“ Don’t be afraid, my servant Jacob, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen!
