爾必默不能言、以至事成之日、因爾不信我言、而屆時必應也、

因是將成瘖啞、以迄事成之日。』

I will make your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth. Then you will be silent. You will not be able to correct them. That’s because they always refuse to obey me.

When God made his promise, he gave his word. He did this so we would have good reason not to give up. Instead, we have run to take hold of the hope set before us. This hope is set before us in God’s promise. So God made his promise and gave his word. These two things can’t change. He couldn’t lie about them.

‘ I warn and correct those I love. So be sincere, and turn away from your sins.

At that time I will open your mouth. Then you will no longer be silent. You will speak with the man. That will show them what will happen to them. And they will know that I am the Lord.”

Then they motioned to his father. They wanted to find out what he would like to name the child.He asked for something to write on. Then he wrote,“ His name is John.” Everyone was amazed.

The king was leaning on an officer’s arm. The officer spoke to the man of God. The officer said,“ Suppose the Lord opens the sky and pours down food on us. Even if he does, could what you are saying really happen?”“ You will see it with your own eyes,” answered Elisha.“ But you won’t eat any of it!”

“ You unbelieving people!” Jesus replied.“ How long do I have to stay with you? How long do I have to put up with you? Bring the boy to me.”

Even if we are not faithful, he remains faithful. He must be true to himself.

The officer had spoken to the man of God. The officer had said,“ Suppose the Lord opens the sky and pours down food on us. Even if he does, could what you are saying really happen?” The man of God had replied,“ You will see it with your own eyes. But you won’t eat any of it!”

You are a woman God has blessed. You have believed that the Lord would keep his promises to you!”

That belief and understanding lead to the hope of eternal life. Before time began, God promised to give that life. And he does not lie.

When he came out, he could not speak to them. They realized he had seen a vision in the temple. They knew this because he kept gesturing to them. He still could not speak.

Then one of them said,“ I will surely return to you about this time next year. Your wife Sarah will have a son.” Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him.Abraham and Sarah were already very old. Sarah was too old to have a baby.So she laughed to herself. She thought,“ I’m worn out, and my husband is old. Can I really know the joy of having a baby?”Then the Lord said to Abraham,“ Why did Sarah laugh? Why did she say,‘ Will I really have a baby, now that I am old?’Is anything too hard for me? I will return to you at the appointed time next year. Sarah will have a son.”Sarah was afraid. So she lied and said,“ I didn’t laugh.” But the Lord said,“ Yes, you laughed.”

The Lord said to him,“ Who makes human beings able to talk? Who makes them unable to hear or speak? Who makes them able to see? Who makes them blind? It is I, the Lord.

Later Jesus appeared to the 11 disciples as they were eating. He spoke firmly to them because they had no faith. They would not believe those who had seen him after he rose from the dead.

The capital of Ephraim is Samaria. And the ruler of Samaria is only Remaliah’s son. If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.” ’ ”

But the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron. He said,“ You did not trust in me enough to honor me. You did not honor me as the holy God in front of the Israelites. So you will not bring this community into the land I am giving them.”

What if some Jews were not faithful? Will the fact that they weren’t faithful keep God from being faithful?
