爾必默不能言、以至事成之日、因爾不信我言、而屆時必應也、

因是將成瘖啞、以迄事成之日。』

藉著這兩件不能更改的事——在這些事上，神不可能說謊——使我們這些逃往避難所、抓住那擺在前面盼望的人，可以得到極大的鼓勵。

凡是我所愛的，我都責備、管教。所以你應當熱心，應當悔改。

於是他們向孩子的父親打手勢，到底他願意叫他什麼名字。撒迦利亞要了一塊寫字板，寫上：「他的名字是約翰。」大家都感到驚奇。

耶穌回答他們，說：「唉，這個不信的世代！我還要和你們在一起多久呢？我還要容忍你們多久呢？把孩子帶到我這裡來吧！」

我們如果不信實，他仍然是信實的，因為他不能否定自己。

這相信的女子是蒙福的，因為主對她說的話都會實現。」

這是基於那永恆生命的盼望，而這盼望是那不撒謊的神在亙古以前所應許的。

當他出來不能和他們說話的時候，他們才了解他在聖所裡看到了異象。撒迦利亞一直向他們打手勢，卻始終不能說話。

其中一位說：「明年這時候，我一定回到你這裡。看哪，你的妻子撒拉將會有一個兒子！」當時撒拉正在那人後面的帳篷入口聽著。亞伯拉罕和撒拉都已經老了，上了年紀，撒拉的月事也停止了。撒拉暗笑，心裡說：「我已經衰老，我的丈夫也老了，我還能有這等快樂嗎？」耶和華對亞伯拉罕說：「撒拉為什麼暗笑，說：『我已經老了，真的還能生育嗎？』在耶和華還有難成的事嗎？到了所定的時期，明年這時候，我必回到你這裡；那時撒拉就會有一個兒子。」撒拉因為害怕就否認說：「我沒有笑」；但那人說：「不，你確實笑了。」

後來那十一個使徒吃飯的時候，耶穌向他們顯現，並斥責他們的不信和心裡剛硬，因為他們不相信那些在他復活後看到他的人。

以法蓮之首不過是撒馬利亞，撒馬利亞之首不過是利瑪利的兒子。你們如果不相信，就一定不能堅立。」』」

即使他們中有些人不信，到底又怎麼樣呢？難道他們的不信會使神的信實無效嗎？
