我要使你的舌頭貼住上膛，使你變成啞巴，不能作責備他們的人，因為他們是叛逆的民族。

這兩件事是不能更改的，因為神是決不說謊的。因此，我們這些逃進避難所的人，就大得安慰，抓緊那擺在我們面前的盼望。

凡是我所愛的，我就責備管教；所以你要熱心，也要悔改。

那時，你要向逃脫的人開口說話，不再作啞巴。你必成為他們的一個兆頭。他們就知道我是耶和華。”

他們就向孩子的父親打手式，看他要叫他甚麼。他要了一塊寫字版，寫上說：“他的名字是約翰。”眾人都希奇。

等到他出來，卻不能講話，竟成了啞巴，不斷地向他們打手式，他們就知道他在聖殿裡見了異象。
