Zechariah asked the angel,“ How can I be sure of this? I am an old man and my wife is well along in years.”

And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years.

“ How can I know this?” Zechariah asked the angel.“ For I am an old man, and my wife is well along in years.”

亞伯拉罕就俯伏在地，笑了起來，心裡說：“一百歲的人，還能生孩子嗎？撒拉已經九十歲了，還能生育嗎？”

馬利亞對天使說：“我還沒有出嫁（“我還沒有出嫁”原文作“我不認識男人”），怎能有這事呢？”

亞伯蘭說：“主耶和華啊，我憑甚麼能知道我必得這地為業呢？”

基甸對神說：“如果你按著你所說的，要藉著我的手拯救以色列人；看哪，我要把一團新剪的羊毛放在禾場上；露水若是單單落在羊毛上，而全地都是乾的，我就知道你要照著你所說的，藉著我的手拯救以色列了。”第二天，基甸清早起來，情形果然是這樣；他把羊毛一擠，就從羊毛中擠出一滿盆的露水來。基甸又對神說：“求你不要向我發怒，我要再說這一次；求你讓我把羊毛再試一試，但願單單羊毛是乾的，而全地都有露水。”那一夜，神也這樣行了；單單羊毛是乾的，全地都有露水。

摩西說：“這與我同住的人，能行的男人就有六十萬，你還說：‘我要給他們肉吃，使他們可以吃一個整月。’難道把羊群和牛群都給他們宰了，就夠他們吃嗎？或是把海裡所有的魚都給他們聚了來，就夠他們吃嗎？”耶和華對摩西說：“耶和華的手臂縮短了嗎？現在你要看看我的話對你應驗不應驗。”

撒拉心裡暗笑，說：“現在我已經衰老了，我的丈夫也老了，我還有房事的樂趣嗎？”

只是沒有孩子，因為以利沙伯不生育，二人又都上了年紀。

他快到一百歲的時候，想到自己的身體好像已經死了，撒拉也不能生育，他的信心還是不軟弱，

但那攙扶王的官長回答神人，說：“即使耶和華在天上開了窗戶，也不會有這事發生。”以利沙說：“看哪，你要親眼看見，卻吃不著。”

希西家問：“我能上耶和華的殿去，有甚麼兆頭呢？”
