以伊理藹之風度神力為主前驅、必使為父者之心歸向兒女、而頑強之子服膺長者之智、為主作育心悅誠服之新民。』

And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the parents to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous— to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”

And he will prepare the way for the Lord. He will have the same spirit and power that Elijah had. He will bring peace between parents and their children. He will teach people who don’t obey to be wise and do what is right. In this way, he will prepare a people who are ready for the Lord.”

He will be a man with the spirit and power of Elijah. He will prepare the people for the coming of the Lord. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and he will cause those who are rebellious to accept the wisdom of the godly.”

And he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of fathers to their children, and the disobedient to the understanding of the righteous, to make ready for the Lord a prepared people.”

And it is he who will go as a forerunner before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of fathers back to their children, and the disobedient to the attitude of the righteous, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”

“ Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes.And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the land with a decree of utter destruction.”

and if you are willing to accept it, he is Elijah who is to come.

And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways,

and that they should not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation whose heart was not steadfast, whose spirit was not faithful to God.

And they asked him,“ What then? Are you Elijah?” He said,“ I am not.”“ Are you the Prophet?” And he answered,“ No.”So they said to him,“ Who are you? We need to give an answer to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?”He said,“ I am the voice of one crying out in the wilderness,‘ Make straight the way of the Lord,’ as the prophet Isaiah said.”( Now they had been sent from the Pharisees.)They asked him,“ Then why are you baptizing, if you are neither the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”John answered them,“ I baptize with water, but among you stands one you do not know,even he who comes after me, the strap of whose sandal I am not worthy to untie.”These things took place in Bethany across the Jordan, where John was baptizing.The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said,“ Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!This is he of whom I said,‘ After me comes a man who ranks before me, because he was before me.’

You yourselves bear me witness, that I said,‘ I am not the Christ, but I have been sent before him.’

He answered,“ Elijah does come, and he will restore all things.But I tell you that Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they pleased. So also the Son of Man will certainly suffer at their hands.”

Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.

And they asked him,“ Why do the scribes say that first Elijah must come?”And he said to them,“ Elijah does come first to restore all things. And how is it written of the Son of Man that he should suffer many things and be treated with contempt?But I tell you that Elijah has come, and they did to him whatever they pleased, as it is written of him.”

O Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep forever such purposes and thoughts in the hearts of your people, and direct their hearts toward you.

giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!

Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness,waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn!But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace.

And those who go astray in spirit will come to understanding, and those who murmur will accept instruction.”

He said therefore to the crowds that came out to be baptized by him,“ You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?Bear fruits in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children for Abraham.Even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.”And the crowds asked him,“ What then shall we do?”And he answered them,“ Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.”Tax collectors also came to be baptized and said to him,“ Teacher, what shall we do?”And he said to them,“ Collect no more than you are authorized to do.”Soldiers also asked him,“ And we, what shall we do?” And he said to them,“ Do not extort money from anyone by threats or by false accusation, and be content with your wages.”

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

“ Therefore thus I will do to you, O Israel; because I will do this to you, prepare to meet your God, O Israel!”

And he answered,‘ I will not,’ but afterward he changed his mind and went.And he went to the other son and said the same. And he answered,‘ I go, sir,’ but did not go.Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said,“ The first.” Jesus said to them,“ Truly, I say to you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes go into the kingdom of God before you.For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. And even when you saw it, you did not afterward change your minds and believe him.

Now therefore thus says the Lord, You shall not come down from the bed to which you have gone up, but you shall surely die.’” So Elijah went.The messengers returned to the king, and he said to them,“ Why have you returned?”And they said to him,“ There came a man to meet us, and said to us,‘ Go back to the king who sent you, and say to him, Thus says the Lord, Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are sending to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron? Therefore you shall not come down from the bed to which you have gone up, but you shall surely die.’”

Ahab said to Elijah,“ Have you found me, O my enemy?” He answered,“ I have found you, because you have sold yourself to do what is evil in the sight of the Lord.

Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.

And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God,

And I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Son of God.”

Now Elijah the Tishbite, of Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab,“ As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word.”

And Hezekiah and all the people rejoiced because God had provided for the people, for the thing came about suddenly.

But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them,“ You brood of vipers! in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory—

who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

because John had been saying to him,“ It is not lawful for you to have her.”

So I sent for you at once, and you have been kind enough to come. Now therefore we are all here in the presence of God to hear all that you have been commanded by the Lord.”

O Lord, you hear the desire of the afflicted; you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

And he answered,“ I have not troubled Israel, but you have, and your father’s house, because you have abandoned the commandments of the Lord and followed the Baals.

Now John wore a garment of camel’s hair and a leather belt around his waist, and his food was locusts and wild honey.

and said to him,“ Thus says the Lord,‘ Because you have sent messengers to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron— is it because there is no God in Israel to inquire of his word?— therefore you shall not come down from the bed to which you have gone up, but you shall surely die.’”

Then Samuel said,“ Gather all Israel at Mizpah, and I will pray to the Lord for you.”
