萬軍之耶和華必保護他們；他們要吞滅，要踐踏彈弓的石頭；他們吶喊，狂飲如喝酒，如盛滿的碗，又如壇的四角。

我必使你成為大國，我必賜福給你，使你的名為大；你要使別人得福。

豐富尊榮都從你而來，你也治理萬物。在你手裏有大能大力，你的手使人尊大強盛。

約翰是點亮的明燈，你們情願因他的光歡欣一時。

你們出去究竟是要看甚麼？是先知嗎？是的，我告訴你們，他比先知大多了。這個人就是經上所說的：『看哪，我要差遣我的使者在你面前，他要在你前面為你預備道路。』我實在告訴你們，凡女子所生的，沒有一個比施洗約翰大；但在天國裏，最小的比他還大。從施洗約翰的日子到今天，天國受到強烈的攻擊，強者奪取它。眾先知和律法，直到約翰為止，都說了預言。如果你們願意接受，這人就是那要來的以利亞。有耳的，就應當聽！「我該用甚麼來比這世代呢？這正像孩童坐在街市上向同伴呼喊：『我們為你們吹笛，你們不跳舞；我們唱哀歌，你們不捶胸。』約翰來了，既不吃也不喝，人們就說他是被鬼附的；人子來了，也吃也喝，他們又說這人貪食好酒，是稅吏和罪人的朋友。而智慧是由它的果子來證實的。」

彼得和十一個使徒站起來，他就高聲向眾人說：「猶太人和所有住在耶路撒冷的人哪，這件事你們要知道，要側耳聽我的話。這些人並不像你們所想的喝醉了，因為現在才早晨九點鐘。這正是藉着先知約珥所說的：『上帝說：在末後的日子，我要將我的靈澆灌凡血肉之軀的。你們的兒女要說預言；你們的少年要見異象；你們的老人要做異夢。在那些日子，我要把我的靈澆灌，甚至給我的僕人和婢女，他們要說預言。
